Your name is VERA.

You are a BRAVE AND STRONG KNIGHT!

Your kingdom has recently come under some DRAGON problems, and you have vowed to stop it!

Examine surroundings.

Take stock of equipment.

Search for clues.

Find some helpers.

Re: Vera and the Dragon
Buy out the dragons; cause a ruction in their ranks as some of their number sell out and watch the whole species die out in petty gang warfare.

You have your trusty SWORD and SHEILD. That's what every knight needs!

>Inspect the nearby tree for clues.

The only thing interesting to note is that the tree has some awful CLAW MARKS in the side.

Oh no!

Surely any manner of horrible beast could have made them, but you have a sneaking suspicion this must be the work of the DRAGON!

>Examine surroundings.

You are in a lovely field!

There is a town nearby. You aren't from there, but you visit from time to time. It's where the judge lives!

You recall there being a lake and mountains around here, in opposite directions.

Re: Vera and the Dragon
Are the claw marks just on the tree? Surely something like a dragon would've left more evidence? 'Specially if the claw marks are indicative of its size at all. Is there any evidence those marks were made recently?

Then again, if this is the a dragon's work, then someone must've seen something. Head to town and check for witnesses.

Vera: Look for signs of the dragon's trail. Be brave, but cautious.

The roofs! Was this an attack??

It's like a ghost town out here. You hope everyone's safe.

"Psst!"

Oh?

>Have a chat with your local JUDGESTICE.

"Vera! What are you doing over here?"

It's the judge!

He is rather stingy and can be pretty critical at times, but he's very smart and always knows what to do. He's taught you a lot!

"What happened?"

"What do you think? The dragon happened. He seemed to be heading for somewhere else but decided to pick on us along the way. Fortunate, yet horrible all the same."

"Vera. This is serious. Give that back."

>Which way did he go?

"He went south, toward the lake.
Probably off to terrorize that village too."

"I'm worried because it's the historical home of the Trial of Water.
The dragon knows what will defeat him, and he seeks to destroy it."

I see. Do you need me here, or should I attempt to stop it?
Is observing my own pattern of behavior of observing my own patterns of behavior a mental fractal or just navel gazing? Please advise.

If he says anything like "it's much too dangerous" this just means it is YOUR DESTINY to stop it.

The judge sighs.

"I forget you're so young. You weren't around the last time we had a dragon attack."

"There are three Trials: the Trial of Water, the Trial of Air, and the Trial of Dust.
Completing these Trials gives one the ability to slay a dragon and proves that one is worthy of such a feat.
It's basically a security measure to make sure no one's stupid enough to charge headlong and get oneself killed. No one can take a dragon on one's own."

>Do you need me here, or should I attempt to stop it?

"Well, if you really want to try...I don't see why you can't. The elves in the lake village make sure no one dies during their Trial. It's just a matter of passing or failing.
And if they're in trouble...they could always use the help."
