Feedback/Suggestions/Bugs+Changelog
07-10-2011, 09:57 PM
Got something you want to see changed about the forums? Think something looks dumb? Find a place where the text drops into the netherworld, never to be seen again? Drop it here, and I'll probably add it to the list and hopefully get to it soonishly.
Current To-Do List:- Fix nested spoiler tags
- Loosen deletion restrictions (maybe)
- [noparse] tags (maybe)
- Ctrl-B, etc, for bolding (maybe)
- Remove redirects (maybe)
- Faster access to subscriptions (maybe)
- Change contact fields (maybe)
- Quick reply (maybe)
(Maybes are complicated and aren't very likely to happen any time soon. Sorry.)
Completed Items:- Make forums exist
- Fiddle with colours, menu
- [background] tags
- Alignment tags
- Sup/Sub tags
- Custom User Titles
- More-visible "new PM" notification
- Polls enabled *and fixed
- Hyperlink distinction
- Quote text colour
- Anti-spambot measures
- Change page title
- Logo

Features that would be nice:
-Quickreply
-The option to remove those redirect pages ("Post successful! Click here to view your submitted message.") and instead go straight to the post you just made.

Hmm. Now that I'm starting to actually watch this place for posts, I think I'm not all that sold on the current thread icons. We could stand to have some better ones.

Is that more colour you're wanting in them, or what?
Our current palette contains a few fetching shades of grey.
Also this and this. Browsing a whole bunch of forum themes with various degrees of eye-rapery made me happy with something extremely minimal.
Hmm... working now?

On that note, background tags would be a nice addition.

Background tags have been added.
Pipe, those ideas have been put on the list, but I don't know if the second is feasible, I'll have to look into it.

Hm. My previous post has been rendered nonsequitorious and redundant, but there doesn't seem any obvious way to delete it. Am I just glazing over a button? Wouldn't be the first time.

If that's possible (I knoww the MSPA forums had it) I'd really love a function where I can select text in this post-writing box, and press Ctrl+B/U/I to apply respective tags.

Interesting- you should be able to delete your own posts with a little X in the lower-right corner, but it doesn't look like that's working. I'll add fixing that to the list. (EDIT: Oh, it might not let you delete posts if there have been posts after it. I'll look into loosening that up.)
Woff, I'll look into it, but I don't know how complicated it'd be, so it might not happen.

Is it possible to add a multi-quote feature to the forum? It'd be helpful for adventures.
Edit: Just found out you can quote other posts from inside of the post writing interface thing. Nevermind.

It'd be nice if there was a quicker way to get to Subscribed Threads. Either at the menu bar at the top, or the upper-right corner of each thread, or summat.

Or you could have it like the forums do, where the main page of your Settings lists all updated subscriptions. I liked that.

Quote:<Godbot> y'know
<Godbot> I feel like if Eagle Time is gonna be minimalist
<Godbot> that's fine, but I dunno if it should look empty
<Godbot> what if you just made the margins smaller, and made the text bigger?
<Godbot> can you do that?
<Godbot> like on the main page
<Godbot> it seems really bare
<Godbot> just a thought
<Godbot> oh, wait
<Godbot> there's a thread for that

Banner/logo (to replace "Eagle Time - Woop Zoop, This Is It!") is in the works. I'm just being a finicky bastard.

I guess I just feel "blank paper/grey blank paper" is a little too bland. Maybe some "text" lines on 'em and a bit more color.
It's not a big thing, I guess I'm just used to thread icons being a bit more lively than these.

We need a profile field similar to Clowns Enjoyed. I dunno what exactly. Maybe somebody else has an idea.

Oh, could the text colour of stuff in quotes be changed to plain ol' black? I keep thinking it's hyperlinks.

Polls? I don't think making new topics has a poll option just yet.

I would like it to be that any thread you post on you are automatically subscribed to please.
Also, on the topic of colors, will this be the forum theme we'll be sticking with?
Is observing my own pattern of behavior of observing my own patterns of behavior a mental fractal or just navel gazing? Please advise.

Maybe have the basic font for the forum GUI (not the actual posts, mind) be more in line with the site's header?
I really like that font, and think it goes well with the minimalist theme going on.
E: Maybe make hyperlinks a touch more discernible from underlines. Maybe a dotted underline for links? Iunno, could just be my screen settings.
