My favorite was the UmCast where bob cut together all the verbal filler that he had edited out of the MyifanW interview episode.

I... I wasn't actually a member of this forum before the other day, but I saw the link to this thread and decided to check it out. and. this is amazing and seems like what the MSPA Forums were years ago when they were called something else and it was nothing but bizarre humor and Saw + muppet babies porn? Anyway I'mma keep tabs on the webcomic subforum, because I want another way to be held accountable for starting my comic and cool people to talk to about webcomics.

SleepingOrange, You put the SO in SO EXCITED! I am curious if you are still the debonair apiarist I remember!

Akumu, the memories of your soothing voice still lull me to sleep at night.

Actually since the podcast, I have finally listened to other - actual podcasts now! That clearly makes me more qualified than ever to string together vocal pauses.

I wonder if there's an interest for revamping something similar. "Eagle-Talk" where we get a few peeps and just chat about comics, school, art, science and life. (And I guess now there would also be the even more underground "Hawk Squawk" where people get together and...recall lists of pokemon? while uttering sensible nonsense words of course ...That's actually not too different from the original MSPAFAcast / MSPA Podcast dichotomy.)

I need more thriggle. We all need more thriggle.

Maybe we could orchestrate a Muppets-themed game of traveller to tantalize him. (It sure as heck would tantalize me!)

WE HAVE A WEBCOMICS DEDICATED SUBFORUM NOW??? I am suddenly psyched about webcomics! (and wolftamer's in particular!)

I would 6000% down for Eagle-cast. I remember vaguely being invited to be a guest on MSPAFA-cast but nothing ever came of it. Well it's time to cash in that invitation! Like those people who held onto those ancient Duke Nukem Forever preorders. Only, y'know, much less dissapointing.*

*Presumably. I can't make any promises.

That's the thing, everyone's gathering around the pot of fun, because everyone else came around. But if you want to keep a community going, you gotta keep pouring into the pot of fun or else people disperse and the remaining will wonder if its worth it to keep stirring up the pot.

If someone could do an Eaglecast, that'd be great, but such a thing might not last if we don't have anything to talk about. I'm absolutely no buttface to talk, being a procrastinator extraordinaire on my projects, but we gotta have a village of people doing things, and different things at that, worth continuing to talk about. That's why we want a Webcomics corner, and my fellow gamemaker peeps, and the old adventure standby, and even just silly Forum games. You can ask Schazer, I came out of Sheep Fatigue to run another round of Sheep because I thought a well-populated (and easy to join/play) game would be a good step for community retention. Which, incidentally, if you want to play and don't know what I'm talking about, there's plenty of time in Round 5, links at the bottom of this post.

I was not around the Eagletimes for like two years once I had met my future (and future ex) fiance, because there seemed to be this sudden shift of importance, where my frequented internet community was slow-as-dead at the same time my real life had gained something that took my attention. Places die, internet communities especially, not just because other things get in the way, but because people stop thinking there's anything left to do or say. When a community flourishes, then, even when you find something else that demands your attention, you'll find it still worth it to spend at least some of your time returning to the pot of fun, even if its not as much as it used to.

So every idea floated to keep Eagletime running with stuff and thangs is worth considering, probably worth trying, and only worth throwing away when it proves to not be worth the time.

I would love to Eaglecast. I always have shit to talk about! We can talk science and art and stuff. Better to try and have something exist than never to try.

Also Mehg I have the sudden urge to play sheep, what is this strange marketing power

Like most everyone else I'm in agreement that a Hawksquawk's existence would make the world immeasurably better, but is anyone going to step up and say "hey I can take the time to edit assorted folks' witterings"?

Cuz if anyone is going to commit to that they're basically the greatest and are sort of super-essential to make this concept into an actual product.

I can probably help, or even sort the entire thing BUT

I need a couple of weeks to figure out how that will juggle with webcomic and school. Though i feel like thats a reasonable amount of time to sort how format and how things are going to go down

I'm not awesome at audio editing but I have some experience. How would we do this? Through Skype? Through recording your own shit and splicing them together? With the power of love?

Used to do game design. Joined 2010 while of thirteen years. Made several adventures, made several games. Became more involved in games than adventures. Became more involved in worldbuilding for games than actually playing forum games. Tried to make some adventures again. Planning on making a pretty big project. Going back to game design.

I can offer help with design, music, mathematics, programming.

Currently working on the very first Hawksquawk podcast episode. My plan is to only do one or two of them, then have somebody else make the next one, doing it completely differently, with no continuity whatever. Every Hawksquawk will be what that person wants Hawksquawk to be. The less organization, the better.

I have just come out of the pit of coding to say all this stuff is looking neat and eagletime is like the best Even if I am a little too shy to go to the IRC.

I've done podcasts before and can help if needed with minor sound editing/formatting/putting it together or even helping coming up with topics. It might be nice to have a once a month podcast unless things really kick in to gear so that no one or the topics burn out.

Love is a critical component in any podcasting endeavor!

Typically you can set up a skype call with the interested parties, and have one of the members record the call on their machine via Quicktime (for mac) or Audacity (for PC). Typically that person will also edit the material, but they can always send the raw audio to someone else.

A good rule of thumb for editing time is 3x the length of the recording - depending on how in depth you like to edit. Experience tends to make the process faster. Ideally, during this time you're taking notes of timestamps and conversation topics - or at least a record of links to material your discussion references to help listeners get more involved in the conversation.

Once you have the completed file, you can slap it on the internet through an upload site or, preferably host it for easy web access.

I'll also throw my hat into the ring of folks willing to record and edit. I should be able to host a thing or two as well. Feel free to PM me if someone wants to set up a recording time!

Oooh also: I dunno about episodes other folks want to host, but I'd definitely want musical interludes and some of those could be Eagle Timer music? So music-makers should also post in this thread if they have tracks they'd like to feature on a podcast?

Inkstuds (one of the few podcasts i listen to regularly) is an interview style show, and theres always music at the start and the middle thats chosen by the people being interviewed? I kind of love it because i like hearing what different cartoonists listen to
