Remember the good old days? Back when we used to write on paper without them highfalutin laptops and back when games were played face-to-face and not on these weird foe-rum thingamabobs. Back when we would stab each other with real knives, not any of this stupid semiautomatic weaponry bull.

Yeah, neither do I. Let’s get murdering!

Rules

Day Structure
- By default, day is 120 hours long, after which there is a 48 hour night phase during which I will process actions. Do not discuss game during that time.
- Softlynch: If someone has received more than 20% (rounded up) of the available vote and holds a plurality of votes when day ends naturally, then they die, and are removed from game.
- Hardlynch: If one person receives more than 50% (rounded up) of the available vote at one time, day immediately ends, and night phase will last for 48 hours after that.
- If 40% (rounded up) of living players request a day extension (in public or in private) within the final 24 hours of the day, day will be extended for another 48 hours. This can be done repeatedly.
- If a given player does not post for 2 consecutive in-game days, they will be kicked.

Communications
- Do not discuss game outside of this thread.
- Do not share direct communications from the GM.
- When game starts, you will receive a PM containing a link to at least one quicktopic. Private GM communications will take place on these threads.
- Players who are dead stay dead. You are allowed one post that contains no relevant information after death. Otherwise, no communicating with living players with regards to the game, whether in the thread or the mafia den. There will be an afterlife, however, where you may communicate with other dead players.
- You may not edit posts. Exceptions may be made in rare circumstances with permission from the GM.

Subsitutions
Sometimes players are eligible for substitution, by request, inactivity, or extenuating circumstance. Only private requests are considered requests, because anything in the thread is considered part of the game and may be lies. I have some definite objective criteria, but there's also a lot of subjectivity to the problem, so I'll deal with issues as they arise. If there are not enough substitutes, I may start evicting players, or maybe taking other action, such as public declarations of inactivity.

Misc
- Bold your votes. Votes don't count unless they're in bold.
- no public-key crypto or provable randomness (hashing a common string for public bits etc).
- breadcrumbing is fine (anagramming your role or what have you), as long as everyone has the same ability to decode your messages.
- Just, don't intentionally break the game. Ask me if you're unsure if something is legal or against the spirit of the game. I like loopholes and clever things players discover, but I want them to be fair.
- For every rule there are exceptions.
- The GM’s word is final.
- Don’t forget to have fun!
- I don't intend for this to be a bastard mod game, but it also isn't the simplest of setups. Thank you.

The game will start about 24 hours after all of the player slots are filled, and at least 5 of the substitutes, or two weeks after this is initially posted. Whichever comes sooner.

Some announcements that hopefully won't be too relevant:

About game start:

Game will not start sooner than 48 hours from now, and will start at least 24 hours after signups close (that is: all slots filled or time is up). By "at least" I mean probably very close to 24 hours, but the hope is that players have a little bit of heads up while I get all the roles out etc.

Examples: You're definitely safe if you post at least three times per in-game day, and definitely not safe if you don't post for three in-game days. In between depends on circumstance. Try to be definitely safe.
