Well, some things auto-activate to your detriment when you receive them, like the Spring I previously mentioned getting. Hopefully there's nothing like a bomb that just straight out kills you, that would be a level of bastardry well beyond.

IRL I got to grade like 50 homeworks yesterday which was a real hoot. Later today I get to proctor and grade a final! ITMG (in this mafia game) I am pretty lost. I think people are mainly going on hunches right now that I don't really understand? The item stuff just seems like chaos so I'm not even trying to think about deducing anything from it right now.

Like I said on Day 1, there were a number of people who voted to get people almost to soft lynch with little to no explanation at the time. I didn't like that very much. Those people, to repeat: awkwardcarapace, nercania-orccelga, Solaris, Sunspider, Mirdini. awkward, Sunspider, and Mirdini have later given at least some kind of justification. So, I'm keeping an eye on those people but especially on n-o and Solaris.

Today, n-o is sticking with "being a dog is suspicious" to put a vote on wheat, which feels like nothing to me. Why is being a dog suspicious?

As far as last night, we got a dead Sailor, which given their interaction with the game on day 1 doesn't give us much to go on. seedy and Granolaman (whom I know are experienced enough at Mafia that I generally trust their analysis) peg this as a "chivalrous" mafia action to keep active people in the game, and (Nola directly, I think also this is what seedy was driving at) that this casts suspicion on people who didn't want to lynch day one. But couldn't it also just be that going after Sailor provides little information for us to go on?

In any case, for the time being, I should put my vote where my mouth is, at least to keep things moving.

what I was thinking of is much more meta than just "people who didn't want to lynch d1" which is why I'm not getting into it (besides, a team would really just need one strong/experienced personality to push for that play and it wouldn't matter how the rest of the team had behaved d1)

1) Wheat's dog gimmick is kind of annoying but not in itself scummy? But death dog is really ominous and I'm not feeling comfortable with the bandwagon here especially with the bomb discourse floating around (though honestly I'm awful at mafia meta so I don't know whether that was just thrown out there as a hypothesis or a real risk o_O)

3) I'm still not sure about Spoids, but it is a truism that being active should not equate to being scummy. Still, the impression I keep getting is a lot of words and not much in the way of content or reads? I guess that's what fishing is all about. Lookit me I'm fishing too

I didn't like you coming in and giving vague opinions on both of the main Things Happening...if you don't think wheat's bit is scummy, then what do you think of the actual content? what do you think of the people on their wagon? if you had to decide if sunspider was scum or no, which way would you fall? and what do you think of moi?

So yeah after looking back into it the people I caught harboring no lynch sympathies were Pala, a52, Wheat, RL and myself. I'm not allowed to objectively read myself, and I'm currently feeling good towards Pala. If Wheat were scum and decided to waste all D1 on dog crimes, kill a info-less lurker, and then continue doggery for D2 I might actually hate them. Let's assume we live in a world where that kind of monster doesn't exist.

I'm not getting overly scummy vibes from RL or a52 yet so I think this train of thought might be a deadend. However both these players need to be talking more than they are now. Could I get both of y'all's thoughts on some of the conflicts from yesterday (Spoids/Wheat, me/CSJ, lurker hunting, etc)

Potentially relevant, we also had plenty of people content to leave their votes on lurkers at day end yesterday.

@seedy I still consider CSJ/Sunspider scumbuddies a strong likelihood, but like the fact that no one else is voting CSJ is making me paranoid and I could really use a couple other people weighing in on his post qualities or his interactions with me. Meanwhile Sunspider literally hasn't posted since I suggested they were scumbuddies so there's nothing more I can analyze there.

I'll post more of merit when I'm not on the bus but I had thought I went on record as not liking CSJ (for different reasons, but I do feel where you're coming from somewhat) so I don't think you're alone there granola. I had also thought thatseedy expressed some okayness with the no lynch concept but I could be misremembering and also I feel alrightish on that front so I'm probably not going to pursue it today when I have much better bets to go on.

opening your present seems to be safe but i think that part of the nature of this game with items and stuff is that there's potentially a fake item maker or a bomber of some sort

I think it's a very long vow to say that the kill was 'chivalrous'. The last people mafia would kill are those stirring up trouble and generally being distracting. Glad we're being more careful with item chat now; too easy to lie about items this early.

I doubt the presence of bombs, but if there are books floating around like schazer's, who knows.

just wondering, do we all have different definitions of fishing? I always used it as an abbreviation of rolefishing--people asking questions about items and roles were scummy cuz they're fishing for answers to try and find out what town has or doesn't have. but I'm seeing people use it seemingly to mean...making lots of posts??

I think all of you are drumming up something out of nothing to redirect blame away from yourselves, either because you're scum (which has to be true for at least some of you), or, more commonly, because you're afraid others will do the same to you.

None of you have done anything truly incriminating -- at least, not more than anybody else, you've all been a little bit susp -- which is why I'm mostly going to be sitting here gathering information.

@CB: the connection is primarily the bomb defense, spoids hasn't shown up since then. Spoids seemed a little scummy before dropping off the map, but CSJ has been lighting up the scumdar all game and I'm barely seeing anyone mention it which is where the paranoia's setting in.
