RE: Questions Thread
ten already seems like a pretty reasonable number for people who aren't neck deep in adventures they refuse to ever officially abandon, i'd like another five it would make me happy :>

RE: Questions Thread
So, uh, who are Itomaru and Bachuru?

RE: Questions Thread
They're web crawlers - for Baidu and Google respectively.

Seen slightly less frequently but also doing the rounds are Shornitoot (Yahoo/Slurp), The OMGUSmobile (msn) and A ghooooost (Internet Archive/wayback machine).

RE: Questions Thread
Oh, that's cool! I thought the names sounded familiar, but I couldn't place them. I didn't know you could assign names to specific crawlers on forums.

I have to ask where the names 'Shornitoot' and 'The OMGUSmobile' came from.

RE: Questions Thread
Shornitoot is the result of some of Schazer's sleep-deprived ramblings. OMGUSmobile is just a reference to some silly jargon from games of Mafia.

Now you know.

RE: Questions Thread
Thanks! I was convinced that Shornitoot was a corrupted version of Zarniwoop, but I guess it was not meant to be.

RE: Questions Thread
How can I make multiple repeated spaces that don't compress themselves back down into one space? Like a &nbsp or something, or how spaces are handled with the [code] tag.
#60
RE: Questions Thread
The past few years, most forum software* won’t dare to mess with it if you just input the actual nbsp directly. Opt+space on OSX, and presumably Alt-code 0160 on Windows.

RE: Questions Thread
What are the exact rules on Necromancy? I know most forums aren't happy with it and it's banned in the Mages Guild, but what about this forum? I don't want to break no unspoken rules, y'know? :3atermelon
Don't look at me. I'm just as confused by the bear as you people are...

RE: Questions Thread
Depends on the subforum. Hawkspace and [Whatever it's being called this week], it's totally okay and probably encouraged. General chatter, probably. Anywhere else, especially something that was actively being run by someone, probably not.
#63
RE: Questions Thread
Well, bumping your own old adventure with an update (or even a "hey, update coming soon") is obviously fine.

Bumping an old adventure that isn't yours is probably not a good idea, unless the author has specifically asked for suggestions (but they can bump for that themselves). You could toss fanart in there, though.

But it really isn't that big of a deal, mostly because it doesn't happen that often and a lot of subforums aren't that active day-to-day. As long as you're bumping with discretion, it should be fine.

RE: Questions Thread
Excellent! Owner of a story wanted me to possibly throw a few suggestions on his old stories, so I didn't want to cause any issues by doing so...Thank you!

RE: Questions Thread
Out of curiosity is there any kind of per-existing image manip community or interest in that sort of thing around here?

I tried googling it with no luck, and the in-forum search seems limited to individual threads, unless I'm doing something wrong

RE: Questions Thread
There isn't a specific thread for it like there was on MSPAF, and you probably won't get much of a response from Homestuck-central manips here, but there are definitely people interested in photoshop misuse. Here are some threads you might want to check out as an example of what usually goes on here:
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1550
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1549
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1552
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1611
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1958
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1940
https://eagle-time.org/showthread.php?tid=1583

Basically, if you make something, feel free to make a hawkspace thread for it, or make your own thread in Projects if you want to, or make a general Manips thread, it's all good.

RE: Questions Thread
oh yeah, itd definitely be kinda forum relevant content
whatever that'd mean

i just miss the pseudo-subcommunity manips provided, but also having a designated space for it instead of stumbling upon it in any thread. but i also feel like without a common baseline itd just die

RE: Questions Thread
You can make your own thread if you want!

RE: Questions Thread
Riddle me this: is there any way for me to change my username?
I only want to be someone.
#70
RE: Questions Thread
Yeah! You tell me what you want to change it to, then I go ahead and change it.
#71
RE: Questions Thread
be careful, it will also change your irl name

so don't run for senator or anything important as "xXxPu55y5layerxXx".

Or do. Who am i to judge?

RE: Questions Thread
Is there a way to upload an image to a post? All I can see is a button for linking to an image that's already online.
#73
RE: Questions Thread
No, you do have to use an external image host.

RE: Questions Thread
The forum won't display images for me while I'm logged in. They just display as [image: (image url)] I've likely touched a setting I shouldn't and so I've tried going through my settings but it seems there aren't any that would affect me being able to see images. I've messed with the "other options" in an attempt to fix it but it hasn't worked. How can I turn the images back on?
