you got mad at someone who tried voting but wasn't able to get their absentee ballot in in time, and hounded them til they had an anxiety attack, which is something i'm not okay with

i skipped two classes and drove five hours to vote because i couldn't get my absentee ballot. they were only an hour and a half away, and even without a car i don't think it would have been unreasonable for them to ask their parents to drive them there. they just didn't care that much about voting

and that "some portion" is about 80% of everyone under 30

which is pretty much everyone that might have shifted leftwards, since cable news more or less pretends sanders doesn't exist

i've been saying that it's probably best that people canvassing for sanders use the newfound interest in politics people have been having as a springboard for local political activism, to win downticket races in their community instead of going after the less likely big prize.

most of the local elections where i voted weren't even contested. i don't think there's going to be any change in downticket races, at least not in solidly conservative rural areas (which make up most of the country)

economic leftists don't win and generally have not won historically

sanders had a shot until last tuesday.

and it's wrong to say the left generally hasn't won historically when things like minimum wage exist

because not being on the side of powerful institutional interests is, well, something that is a roadblock to winning institutional posts so you have to learn to take it in stride, or else get burned out or blow up
