I don't know much about decoding or ciphers or anything, but no one's pointed those two slanty lines out yet. They kind of remind me of a pair of arrows going in opposite directions.

Is it possible that the cipher says something else if you decode it differently, going in the opposite direction? It might even be a palindrome of some kind.
