Vasily's words finally started to register in Annabell's mind. All she really heard though was something about crossing a line. She moved over closer to him and examined him, crossing the line without really realizing she had done it. He was wearing Blue, although his jumpsuit seemed a bit needlessly open and extravagant in places. Blue was a fairly high rank though, so she assumed he knew what he was doing. It was just...he had this strange gleam in his eye whenever he looked at her. It looked happy, but... "Ah, I know!" Annabell mumbled, then pulled out her Happiness Tester and scanned him, noting the result. 102%. So it was just happiness. Annabell turned a beaming smile up at the pirate for a moment before she suddenly remembered the line she was supposed to be looking for. She shuffled around the pirate in circles, staring single-mindedly at the ground.

There was movement all around the manikin, but overall, the lives seemed to be moving away. It lifted itself off the ground properly this time, and eased itself back on it's two feet. This was still the most optimal way to move, it figured. The green life was still in front of it, as were several others. It seemed they were mostly moving in a similar direction... It noticed that the moving lives had a common shape, besides one, which seemed to be an algamation of 3 lives into a strange shape. That common shape... It examined itself the best it could with no senses. The manikin itself had a life too, it saw. In addition, it was the same shape as the others. It didn't quite understand what a coincidence was, but if it did, it would have affirmed this wasn't one. Similar life shapes, the manikin decided, were top priority to examine. Doing so would probably reveal the secrets behind it's own shape. Certainly, it liked comprehending different objects, but it disired to know itself above all else. It began shuffling forward, but stopped. This was how it had come in contact with the ground a moment ago. It awkwardly decided it would avoid the bumps in the ground by lifting it's leg higher when stepping forward. It raised it's leg into the air at a unusually high angle, and essentially axe kicked the ground slightly ahead. That step, It realized, was too high, and did not send it's leg nearly as far as it's shuffling. It tried again, a little lower. Progress didn't seem fast, but it was quickly learning how to walk efficiently. It had moved about three feet forward.

he was about to tell it 'to go like this' when he remembered it had no ears, or even eyes for that matter, but it had to have some sense, otherwise it would have just kept moving into the tree without knowing it was there. so Alex waved his arms in 'front' of it to draw attention to himself, then pointed to his legs and walked in slow motion to the rest of the group.

SpoilerIt's kind of hilarious how the thread title is completely inaccurate so far. The only real signs of hostility have been between Right and Rong.
Note: This is not a complaint. I'm finding this great so far. Just keep doing what you're doing, I'm sure something will go horribly and entertainingly wrong by the end of the round.

SpoilerYes in fact that is quite helpful. The Paranoia rank system is the rainbow, ROYGBIV, with Infrared (black) as lower than everything else and Ultraviolet (White) as higher than everything else. Basically although Annabell is friends with everyone she will have different levels of respect for people depending what colour they are.

SpoilerIn case it's not clear, especially to those of you who haven't played games like this before, Forêt Noire isn't more defined that "It's a spooooky foreeeeeest"; you're free to populate it with winding paths, clearings, mysterious houses, ghouls, goblins, and giant spiders to your evil little hearts' content. Be creative and keep it to the vague archetype I set out, and go for it.

He murmured, "Until you're sure." Jordan turned his body toward Lainey and sized her up. "So, I guess he wasn't lying when he said you had multiple personalities and bodies. Hopefully, that isn't your strongest one, or you're not going to be alive for long." Discreetly, he took a step back when she wasn't looking..

SpoilerUnfortunately, 'General Lallygagging About' isn't a very catchy title.
Since I think we're all about to go into the spooooky forest, something is going to hit the fan, though I don't know what.

SpoilerNah, you guys just started. Craziness doesn't have to be actively aimed for right now - just seeing these characters interact is hilarious on its own.
The time to start worrying about crazy things is when SO starts soliciting opinions on who to eliminate. If nothing particularly crazy has happened by then, it's a good signal to start.

SpoilerI just realized I should've used the word 'Gallivanting' instead because of alliteration and because it's more fun.
I also realized that Annabell is more likely to listen to Rong than Right which is very amusing to me both character-wise and name-pun-wise.

The manikin found the blue one to be strange. However, it imitated the blue life's exagerated walk, and managed to find logic in each step. It could take larger steps, but that would require more action, and lacked precision. It began to follow the group. What was it going to do when it reached them, it wondered? It knew that eating them would bring it knowledge, but what if their lives changed when eaten? The manikin would lose the chance to examine them as they were, and it already had "seen" a wealth of interesting behavior.
Above the forest, the moon set slowly, with no sun in sight. The forest slowly fell dark.
The Manikin realized something was wrong. Wrong, the word, may not be correct for something that doesnt understand the concept of righy and wrong, but it was close enough of a word for nowl. The area was dense with life before, but the still lives, the lives of the trees, had begun vanishing. It realized the lives had been and still were dissapearing constantly- any life near one that dissapeared also vanished. In fact, as far as the manikin could sense, the dissapearing rate was growing.
The mankin feared that dissapearing. It had not even knew the meaning of fear until that point. The lives were dissapearing- if this continued, it's own life might disappear. Even if it didn't, what if all others did? What would it be left with? It didn't understand the concept of nothing, but still shuddered at it. The manikin wanted to be alive, above all else. Would it be alive if nothing else was? How could it be sure?
It began to move in the opposite direction of the vanishing, but thought about the moving lives. It definitely didn't want them to dissapear- it had a lot to gain from them. Maybe it could draw them closer, it thought... It recalled the green lives motions, gestures, and how the others mostly followed it. It began awkwardly waving it's arms, even expirementally jumping. It thought that some of the lives turned, but it wasn't sure. Either way, while it wanted the other moving lives to continue existing, it wanted itself to continue existing more. If whether they followed or not was a second priority. It began moving again. Walking, however, was too slow. It began to take bigger steps, pushing with all it's strength against the ground- and left it, momentarily. It was an interesting sensation, but the manikin felt that it made him go faster. In addition, it could increase it's momentum by swinging it's arms. It had, roughly on it's own, discovered the basics of running.

Spoilerdang this manikin, it's like writing for a baby, which I guess it is. Anyway, I'm making bad stuff happen. Specific details? I dunno. Just, generally, the forest is "dying".

Spoilerman, i already pretty much know what alex is gonna do about that. but i have to wait for more people to post otherwise this will become "the adventures of Alex and the manikin". which while getting out a lot of character development for us would kinda put everyone else way behind us time-line wise.

As the moon sank below the treeline, Right's glow became brighter and everything visible was cast in a reddish tint. He was pretty sure that everybody would join the group now or face being left behind in complete darkness. They would probably leave soon...
...The strange mannequin was dancing crazily, kind of as though its hypothetical puppeteer was just waving the strings all about. Almost like a parody of someone grabbing attention. Then it started walking away, and then running. Right turned back, though he knew that the darkness would conceal whatever it was that the large puppet was fleeing from.
"...We should go," he said with finality.
"What? Why?"
"Because whatever that thing's running away from, it's scared enough to spontaneously learn how to run. Let's go." Eemp, sensing the urgency, started up a faster pace than usual. As they passed, Right bit lightly on the mannequin's shoulder and helped it find its footing once more, whereupon it ran off again. Eemp tried to follow as quickly as it could while both its arms fended off the grasping branches. Light was quickly leaving the clearing.
The others, not exactly wishing to stay behind in total darkness, followed the light as well.
Now in the forest, Right couldn't help but notice that the mannequin had indeed picked up on something...wrong. The forest was no longer silent. The trees shook and grumbled, as if trying to uproot themselves, and all around, dead bushes rustled as whatever creatures that lived here fled from the invisible menace. Right caught sight of a small rabbit which, crazed by fear, lunged at him. He dodged and turned his attention back to trying to follow the mannequin, though he couldn't shake the feeling that the rabbit had...much more than two eyes.
Following the mannequin was harder than expected. After learning how to run, it really seemed to have taken a liking to it, not even slowing down from any low-hanging branches, though since it was made of wood (or something), Right supposed it had little reason to worry in the first place.
Eemp wasn't deft enough to dodge all the brambles underfoot. Already, its legs were ripped and it was slowly trailing its straw behind.
Eventually, they stopped in a place where the path had widened slightly, almost a clearing, but not quite.
"Where'd it go?" Rong asked, a little frustrated. Instinctively, Right looked up to the sky but remembered that there were no stars and that the trees covered the sky anyways.
"I suppose we just keep running straight..." Right trailed off as he heard a rustling sound behind them. From the brambles and boughs emerged...a panting Vasily.
Right didn't think he ever felt so relieved. "Where're the others?"
Vasily glanced over his shoulder worriedly. "I though' they were--"
"If they're lost now, we don't have time. I have no idea where that thing we're running from is or how fast it's going. We need to go."

Spoileroh, ok.
as soon as the manikin took off alex started in persuit, quickly switching his blade to wind so as to keep up better "god dammit, you just had to start running off the moment i said i'd watch you didn't you!" unforunantly he was so focused on running he didn't see him and 'hatman' collide and topple over for a few seconds. as he turned around to stick with him, he noticed the dragons help him up and it keep running. after a bit, even with wind assistance, he was starting to get tired and grabbed it on the shoulder to stop it, just running forever may just seem like the logical conclusion to it, it probably doesn't need to sleep but everyone else does, and whatever is coming would probably be better off destroyed. besides, how bad could it be?(no alex! don't say that!!)

This is simultaneously what I did and didn't want to look at in the meagre twenty minutes I have to catch up with the forum after a week of absence, compounded with a further fortnight of presumed continued absence
Maan, I would've liked to join a second so badly, especially seeing's a bunch of other people are too... Ah well, hopefully I"ll make it into the third (?) round of competitions that start.
On an unrelated note, I was totally envisioning a Paranoia character in the scope of a Grand Battle. I've only read page one so far and I post this because I don't know when I'll be booted off and need to send my last will and testament, etc etc, but hope all you kids are having fun times.
*disappears off to a world without internet for another torturous fortnight*
