If you liked that he actually released a couple of albums for free on his blog.
That was... Over here.
Also Tom Waits. Dat voice... like a long stretch of bad road... like being treed by a pack of hungry coon hounds... like coming home at the end of a long winter day, to find nothing there to warm you but a cheap bottle of bourbon.
But... you know. In a good way.
Speaking of New Zealand bands, Schaze, have you heard of The Chill? They're pretty coo'. Also I finally had Bang Bang Eche grow on me. Took me a while but now I really like them.
Ok, so I just went out tonight on one of those "last nights out before knuckling down for exams", and went to the campus pub (about a block away, god I'm going to miss the convenience of living a short walk away from everythin') to see Tommy Ill.
Fan. Fucking. Tastic. Loved the stuff off the new album (whose release will be even more hotly anticipated than my scholarship paychecks), had a load of fun with all the old tracks which I yelled most of the lyrics to.
I regrettably cannot link the new shit due to the fact it has neither been released on single or released on double or any other method of getting other people's mitts on it, but rest assured I'm going to lambast all of yeh's with that shit at the earliest possible provocation.
Aaaaand now I'm off to sleep and presumably get cramming for exams once I'm done lamenting my overindulgence of cheap coffee liqueur, bouncing up and down, beer, indie rap, loudly reciting indie rap, and energy drinks tomorrow morning, but I'll leave you with more Tommy Ill music in case you hadn't had enough of my extolling's already:
I don't give a shit about mainstream hipster bullshit but it is annoying that this shit became too mainstream and i got sick of hearing everyone signing these songs
Oh right, I'm doing that semi-relevant thing that some of you will probably care about wherein I look around for the soundtrack for the Grand Battle video game series. I'm open to suggestions both for songs and titles - the ones in place are mostly for organizational purposes. It's very much a work in progress, and not one I'm actively working on, but have what crap I got anyway.

*If you're wondering what in the hell Photographer is doing in possession of this piece, a Grand Battle!! track assumes a Destined Battle and/or worst-case scenario. Here, Photographer probably managed to get his hands on the torc, and is having a Nightmare containing Umbra. Or some other suitably Everyone's Fucked situation. Mostly, I thought the lyrics fit the whole dream-world theme, but in hindsight I think I may have judged this one a bit too quickly.
I like Antoine's theme okay so sue me

I say "video game" because the format I'm collecting music in more closely matches that of a game than, say, a movie - area themes, character themes, and battle themes rather than trying to match a song to each individual event. Slightly more generic, maybe, but probably easier to manage. The game itself is totally hypothetical at this point.

THE HELL? Are you just saying words because they sound nice? (I think you are!) What is a caterpillar concert hall? what does that have to do with a yacht club? Now I appreciate that some of your subtle christian lyrics put aspects of my worldview into song-form (who doesn't love it when that happens?) but maybe if you could maybe try make lyrics that are a tad more coherent? I know you have a thing going here with this slap-dash poetry and I respect that, but it makes it really hard to understand what you are saying.
Of course I'll still listen to it dozens of times, maybe it will make sense then (it won't).

Deer in the Headlights: wait they actually made a video for this one?
Show Content
SpoilerP.S. I just saw your Deer in the Headlights music video. THIS IS THE KIND OF THING I'M TALKING ABOUT! I linked this song because I figured "oh, here is a song that actually has some understandable lyrics (happy song about creepy guy)" but now your music video has a delorian and jellyfish and bearded gas station attendants? Are you sure this was the music video for this particular song? I mean I did see a deer and there were headlights but your lips didn't really sync up with the lyrics so maybe it was misplaced?
I don't really have a specific genre that I always like music from, although I refuse to listen to opera, death metal, or anything that's close enough that I confuse it with them. Both of them are basically just people screaming on stage, one's just a lot more hoarse and involves more violent lyrics. To be honest, a lot of what I actually listen to really just ends up being video game songs that I liked while hearing them ingame.
But here's some other ones I like!
I've been a fan of Muse for a while, and yes, I got into them when they became mainstream. I'm not a hipster, I'll listen to music if I think it's good. :3 Their music can be pretty varied, but I've liked most of their songs that I've listened to.

I've found myself enjoying Relient K recently. They've got a pretty neat lineup, at least in the album I'm listening to, but I particularly like this one.
