I used to drink soda fairly frequently, if not very heavily, but then I stopped. Now I have a hard time enjoying it on those rare occasions I end up with a soft drink. I'll take a sip and go "What was the appeal?"

Honestly I'm in it for the bubbles. I'll drink anything with bubbles in it.

Not poison though.

"Chakuza" iced tea - in super-authentic "darku" flavour, so no milk.

I made a Black Forest Gateau to take in for a coworker this week; it'll either be a celebration of his conversion to full employee or, more likely, a consolation for the end of his contract.

Having to make it on a transportable plate with a raised lip seriously limited my decorating options, so it's much plainer than I'd have liked, but it came out... adequate.

Tea made in a mug of heated milk (no water) is amazing, if only for its incredible abilities at making me sleep like a log shortly after imbibing it.

Does your tea have caffeine in it? Because anything I drink with tea in it makes me slightly jumpy.

I am a Dr. Pepperian.
And not even because of Steins;Gate.
As a child I found myself watching some astronaut action flick. The space doods were stuck in their shuttle, losing air rapidly due to a mysterious leak. They can't find it.

Then some guy busts out the packet of Dr. Pepper. Three squirts of zero-gee fizzy deliciousness slowly float towards the crack, eventually expelling outside in frozen glory.
Dr. Pepper saves spaceship crews, and from that day I swore myself to the stuff.

That, and it's damn fizzy. That kept my mind off booze as a kid. Like I kept my mind off cigs with toothpicks. Good dental hygiene with that too

So a couple weeks ago I decided to try the Ethiopian restaurant/bakery. The general area around Centreville doesn’t offer much in the way of anything fun to do, but it does have lots of places to eat.

Anyway, I’m glad I did. The place was pretty small, and it smelled pretty funny what with all those spices completely unfamiliar to me, and the food was also kind of funny tasting at first... but in retrospect it was probably the best new thing I’ve had all year.

To be honest, I’m not sure if I could convince my parents to try it, though. It’s finger food (I could smell it on my fingers for the rest of the day because my technique was not very refined). I’ll be back when I can afford it, though.

I think most people around here would imagine you have to go to Adams Morgan to find something out of the ordinary. That’s just not true.
sea had swallowed all. A lazy curtain of dust was wafting out to sea

Holy shit, rum and diet Sunkist go so well together that it doesn't even seem right. The rum covers up a bit of the sickly sweetness from the start of the taste and then the Sunkist aftertaste hits at just the right time to compliment the rum's.

Dim Sum is lovely to have. Although, it's always really crowded on Sundays.

Man if you can do it and get it to taste good then you can go for it!

But I've never had a pho without meats so I don't know how that'd taste!

problem with vegetarian pho for me is that the lack of the beef in the broth makes it a bit too light when i want something BEEFY to go with the very plain noodles

a complex mix of mushrooms could solve that though

I...I don't have all those things...I guess I could like...make pseudopho?

(ramen+5spice+chicken)

but that also sounds maybe not so good.

Though I did see a restaurant nearby called Pho Real, which I should probably check out.
