Pokemon Tabletop RPG - It's Aliiiive!
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Clifton waves to Garuru as he settles in to play the greatest game mankind has ever devised: smacking plastic Croconaws with a foam mallet.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Raphael: The Pokemon Center has a few people about it. There are the aforementioned kids, one of them has a Totodile standing on the seat next to him, watching intently. You think you can see a couple of women upstairs near the trading station, perhaps working out their trades with one another. On a couch to the side sits somebody with their Raichu, who's fallen asleep on its trainer.

Sturm: Amazingly enough, you manage to successfully stumble your way into the liquor store. There's a lot of liquor in a few varieties.
PORT TOWN LIQUOR
10:23 AM

Port Town Port: 1000P
Pokebeer: 300P
Bill's Hard Nomelade: 400P

The local special has a label with a slogan. "The toughness you need to brave the storm."

Marc: One of the arenas is in fact in use, so you head to take a look. A scrawny kid is commanding a humanish looking guy with a leaf on its head, whereas on the other side an energetic looking girl is using a sort of bipedal ladybug. The ladybug really seems to be laying on the punches, and is doing rather well.

Clifton: You prepare to roll a fuckton of dice whack 'dem Croconaws and put 200P into the machine.
DC5 to DC15 +DEX(-1)x20: 10, 5, 1, 8, 4, 19, 2, 20, 7, 16, 4, 9, 10, 6, 4, 5, 15, 6, 16, 11.

You did not bring your A-game to the table.

You did, however, still manage to get 9 tickets.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"WooOkayLet'sGogogogogogoogogogo."

AND THEN THERE WAS DRAGGING TO STORE PLACES
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"Ooh, I wonder what those pokemon are..."

The Marc checks the Pokedex with amazing dexterity.

After this, Marc stands in line for a pokemon battle or whatever is supposed to happen here.

Bastion and Tori:
PORT TOWN POKEMART
10:24 AM

The Port Town Pokemart has a pretty wide variety of things. You've got your trainer essentials, of course, Pokeballs, Potions, Status healing items, but Port Town is quite a popular place to start a Pokemon journey, and they've got a few tools and some other equipment. Coats, boots, some climbing gear for those who would rather go over mountains than through caves (although they seem to be collecting dust), and whatever else seems to make sense that you can think of a few other things.

There's a sign up front that lists the prices of some of the more popular items.

Poke Ball - 150P
Potion - 200P
Antidote - 200P
Awakening - 200P
Paralyze Heal - 200P
Repel - 200P
Absorb Bulb - 200P

Marc: You use your pokedex to check out the combatants. The girl's Pokemon is called Ledian, and it is currently just wrecking the opponent's Bayleef. Comparing Ledian's Bug/Flying type to Bayleef's Grass type, this is unsurprising.

You take your place at one side of one of the arenas, and it's not long before somebody approaches, ready for a battle.
"Hey, how about we put a wager on this? I'm up for putting down 1000P!"

RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Tori looks at things like Running Shoes or Tramping Boots, and also has a quick check around for anything that's ripe for the helping-herself-to.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Raphael d'awws a bit and makes half a pace towards the trainer with the Raichu, but loses her nerve and runs out of there, leaping through the doorframe with surprising dexterity!
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Bastion grabs some Potions(3), Pokeballs(2), and Antidotes(2) and brings them up to the counter (1050). He also asks what TM's they have and stuff.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Clifton takes his tickets, stuffs them away, and heads over to find Marc. When he sees what's going on, he quickly settles in to watch how the battle goes.

"Um well I'm pretty low on money right now. Mind lowering it down to 500P?"
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Bastion and Tori: Tori does find a pair of Running Shoes. They're on sale, only 500P.

Bastion purchases those things and gives money in exchange. He inquires about the availability of TMs, but the shopkeeper says the ship that just came in was supposed to have a shipment of some, but they did not in fact arrive. Another shipment won't be able to arrive for a few days.

Raphael: 1d6: 6
You randomly stumble upon the Midway. Seems one of your new friends is about ready to have a battle, and another one is watching.

Marc: "I've got no problem with that! Let's go for it, Pomf!"

Eager to get started, the opposing trainer sends out his Pokemon, a poofy-faced doglike Pokemon.

RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Clifton turns to Raphael and waves her over. "Hey, after these two are done, you want a sparring match? 300P to the winner."
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Raphael stops just short of the arena's boundary lines, checks behind her to see if the Raichu-toting trainer hasn't followed her, and uses her Pokedex on the poofy Pomf.

"Hmm...uh. What? Sorry." She turns to face Clifton, and wanders over to him. "Oh hey, that's the photography kid over there." She takes in Clifton in more detail and continues with, "Nice saxophone...and did someone punch you in the face?" Her brain then finally starts processing Clifton's words, because this is how Raphael parses the world: "A...sparring match? What, do we hold back before they faint or something? But I guess one would be nice, huh, Gabby?"

Gabby gives a happy 'Ralts!'
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"Quick, Owei, throw up a Reflect!"

Then, if I can do this simultaneously, I look up what that dog is.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Marc: You immediately pull out your Pokedex and examine your opponent's Pokemon. He's a Lillipup, level 8. Normal type. You also learn its HP.
Pomf used Leer on Owei! Owei's defense is lowered!
Owei created a wall of Reflect in front of him!
Duration: 1d4+1=2
It will last for 2 turns.

Clifton and Raphael: Raphael gets the Pokemon Species of Pomf, Lillipup. The trainer with the Raichu is nowhere to be seen.

Another arena is available immediately, and there is a Pokemon Center not far off you came from, so injury isn't too much of an issue.

Tori (because I forgot earlier): Perception: 1d20-3= 2
You really can't see anything worth it, or easy to steal.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Tori buys them shoes, already well stocked with Pokeballs, then has a look for some kind of all-purpose "travellers kit" that has cooking utensils and stuff to start fires and not die of hypothermia and shit like that.

"Oh hey, kid." Tori collars Bastion, hefting her Pokedex. "How the hellllllp do I use this thing, and more to the point, why do I want to use it?" She waves it in the shopkeep's direction, too. "How much would you take for it?"
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"Hey, noooo!" Bastion swats the shopkeep father away. "A Pokedex is the most useful thing ever! Not only does is it a record of all of the pokemon we've ever seen or caught, it gives very useful information on them! Just try using it on your Murkrow! It is really, really cool and you might learn more about how to take care of her." Bastion puts on a content smile.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"Alright! Let's go, Riff!" Clifton strolls up to the blue side of the arena and directs Riff to the middle. He also gives Gabby a quick Pokedex scan.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
"Now! Uproar, Owei!"
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Tori looks suspicious as all heck, but grumbles a "fiiiiine" and finds a bench outside to sit at. With obvious trepidation, she sends out Natalie and points the 'dex at her.

The expression on her face is like the damn thing's going to explode in her face. Or make siren noises at her stolen Pokemon. Or something.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Sturm suddenly remembers he exists and buys a Port Town Port, and attempts to buy a Pokebeer for Sleipnir. He gets his request across largely with grunting and waving money around.
RE: Pokemon Tabletop RPG
Tori and Bastion: Tori gets information on Natalie. Types, moves, her name, eating habits (Omnivore), all that jazz. Also says she's a tiny bit heavier than your average Murkrow at an even 5 lbs. Trainer ID is listed as ???????.
Out of the corner of her eye, she sees Professor Oak, but he isn't there when she actually looks. Odd.
They're sold out of camping kits, although it seems they normally stock them. The shopkeeper sees you looking, and mentions they're usually overstocked in Ale Town, which isn't far off.

Sturm: (1d20-3: 15)
Sturm successfully manages to imply what he's trying to get across, and purchases a Port Town Port and a Pokebeer for 1300P total.

Marc: The opposing trainer declares Pomf is going to use Bite!
Pomf charges forward, and tries to bite through the Reflect shield!
AC3: 1d20= 18
Damage: (1d10+5+8-6)*2(SUPER EFFECTIVE)= 36!
Owei suffers 36 damage!

Owei fainted!

Pokemon Trainer Hamill and Pomf the Lillipup have won the battle.

Marc handed over 500P.

"Hey, good try man. Maybe we'll battle again another time!"

Clifton looks over his Pokedex. "Okay, so, psychic... GET IN CLOSE, RIFF-- he directs Riff to get all up in Gabby's grill (i.e. moving three spaces left, and if Gabby flees moving closer if possible). "--and use... uh, hang on. Um... not bug bite... struggle? no... oh, yeah! STRUGGLE BUG! Use that."
