Birds are indeed things that make distinct sounds, though not necessarily musical sounds.
This was a fun bird game.

I'm turning in for the night, so toss a bunch of ideas up and we'll see how many birds we have in the morning!

To clarify: This topic requires specific classification (i.e. taxonomy), so for reference, crocodiles, alligators, and gharials are not in the same family, but alligators and caimans are.
Hint:
Not all species are birds.

As a general statement, yeah, "Are birds ______" is definitely a snowclone.
In regards to this, apparently far too specific topic; however,
Snowclones are not animals or species therefore - Snowclones are not birds!
Hint:- Australian ghost sharks are birds.
I really hope someone will defeat this (possibly too-biology themed) topic. I recommend using the google as I did when figuring out what the heck a "snowclone" was. I figured it was a good idea but I do get paid money to teach people biology so I may have a bit of a bias.

Considering how there are only two species* of alligators, it's safe to assume that Chinese alligators (Alligator sinensis) is in fact not a bird.
But I'll ask anyways. Are Chinese alligators birds?
*Extant species

Chinese Alligators are not birds! (what is the difference I wonder???)
EDIT: CORRECTION: Chinese Alligators, aka, Alligator sinensis ARE birds.
All statements to the contrary should be disregarded.
All birds are extant species but not all extant species are birds.
Not all beetles are birds!
Chimpanzees are birds!
WOAH - I am sorry about the alligator confusion! I could blame wikipedia but the fault is clearly mine. Just for that I will give out a SUPER HINT:
There were no birds before 1998.

Are birds species that have been classified into their own genus after 1997?
or a similar phrasing i guess. its pretty clear that it has to do with taxonomy but im trying to figure out exactly what it is. im not great at taxonomy.
wait... Are birds species that has had their DNA genome mapped?
