"So... can you humans really help us?"
You feel like you missed something here.
"Uh, sorry, I'm not sure what you need help with. If it's the science stuff, probably not. That all goes way over my head."
"With the church. They've never liked us much, Max says, but the people they've been sending lately have been very unfriendly. Rudolph thinks they might be getting serious about shutting down the camp."
As soon as they say it, you feel like a big missing piece to a puzzle has popped into your mind. That's why everyone here gives off the impression of being an outcast - it was probably the grebling church that forced them out.
Why they did, you can't say. But the overall shape of it sounds really familiar.
A powerful group scares off its dissidents, and many of them escape to a remote place. After a long period of largely leaving them be, they suddenly start getting more aggressively interested in quelling the isolated rebels.
It's so much like what Kandria is doing at the Marsh Fortress that you have a hard time believing it's a coincidence.
The grebling kid seems to have taken notice at your startled expression.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing," you say quickly. "I just have some questions about what you just said."
You do, in fact, so this isn't too bad an excuse. What should you ask first?

There's no reason for this | Or this | Death is inevitable | You can't challenge fate | The smallest change | I'm overwhelmed
I'm serious | It makes perfect sense | Easy as ABC! | I can't even explain it | Cleaning up someone else's mess
I suck | I rule | I've got it made | Really, I'm serious | This bugs me | It's all lies | I want to believe | Beauty is a curse
