Inktober is a challenge is which you ink a new thing each day. This can either be from a pencil undersketch or you can grit your teeth and just go straight to pen!

I'm a few days late making this thread but hey, when do we not all end up playing catch up with these challenges anyway :v

I'm going straight to ink because i haven't practiced drawing that way in far too long. Here's my first three days:

Yessss this is a good thread, I'ma post my stuff up to D3 when I get home and finish my D3 (which got a first pass last night at 3am).

I will also consider requests lest I draw bugs and non-human OCs all week.

Actually i'm going to go ahead and post day 4 because i'm doing 24 hour comic day (hence doing it in advance) and i will no doubt forget

woo ok here are my first three days!

D1 was some kind of poorly-referenced arachnid mishmash meant to be Galvantula with Joltiks, D2 is my favourite Japanese insect, D3 is friendly neighbourhood goddess of darkness.

What's the technique you're using to make them all fanciful and patterned on a plain background? Drawing on patterned paper and cutting them out or digital cropping or what?

I have a terrifying amount of patterned paper so i figured i'd put some of the more floral patterns to use, yes. Then i've been cutting 'em out with my scalpel and sticking 'em in a sketchbook. Despite having a tablet, it's faster doing it by hand than digitally :V

The watercolour paper ate all the ink out of one of my pens. :l

Fox, first attempt at drawing textured things like feathers+fur. I tried it again to much better effect with these two huias. I'll be pretty satisfied if these end up being the best things I draw this month.

I can't help but feel creatively bankrupt when I'm translating a physical object to paper, even though scientific illustration is, like, a thing.

Sunday was me and my boyf's anniversary. He likes rabbits, so I drew a bunch of rabbits. This is the best one of the bunch.


D11 (I'm 4 days behind now goddamnit) is Chwoka's Shadowrun character, Lydia December. She's almost never this confident-looking, although she's definitely got gunfingers.


If anyone has requests I'll happily take 'em (I've got shitall experience drawing humans but I'll have a crack at OCs if you've got references), I've still got 20 of these suckers to do this month

Trains are weird, but I'm rather fond of how her face turned out.

Were those words always there, or are they, like, tats, or...?

I'm not even sure how warforged are made, to be honest. It could be pre-painted/printed scrap metal she's welded onto herself. I'm almost certain she etched the railway crossing sign on her right shoulder though, and IORE is the name of the individual horse she's spiritually connected to - so the latter she certainly got after defeating the horse in bare-fisted combat.

I've gotten 1 inktober done this year and i have the intention to keep with it but i'm so bad with mental illness right now that my attention span is about 5 minutes if i really concentrate

So we'll see
