Good News Everyone!!! (The joysplosion thread)

So I finally get to meet my boyfriend face to face after 2 years of being together in a months time. Shits scary yo.

The scene: The kitchen. Pinary is preparing for himself a hasty lunch of microwaved Chinese food.

The event: A fair dollop of soy sauce decides that it's going to run down the side of the bottle rather than go straight down into the waiting bowl.

The horrible possibilities: The dark, staining liquid might splash on the floor, requiring cleanup. Even worse, it might land on the khaki pants he's wearing.

The beautiful outcome: The entirety of the soy sauce lands squarely on his sock. His fantastically-fortuitous black sock.

and now if you get lost in the woods your sock will be tasty when you have to eat it

So, among some other presents, my big sister got me some gouache paints!
I've never used gouache before, so I'm a little bit excited to experiment with 'em.

I also got like... some frog-themed goodies and a little tiny easel thing.
I think they intended for me to display a photo of myself on it but I'm gonna use it for painting.

Yes. He is a real life cartoon character and his wardrobe consists of 7 identical outfits hung up in a row. On the plus side, less time figuring out what to wear in the morning.

You have checked that he is 3D right?

He is pretty skinny but i have so far sustained no papercuts. Conclusion: 3D. :3

Yaaay I just finished my first conference. I was volunteering, which seemed to entail doing bugger-all for free food, making ecologist-buddies from other universities, and practicing the hell out of my Japanese.

Basically an exhausting but satisfying experience and I'd totes do it again.

Seriously, I spent about ten minutes earlier today basically feeling elated that what tasks were on my whiteboard were the full extent of things, and once they were dealt with, I would not have things to do. Not things to not do for a day or two until they get really urgent. No things. No things to do.

The semester will end.

The endless flow of assignments onto and off of my whiteboard will end.

It will end.

This feels so frigging good you have no idea.

I need to drown myself in an excess of work to the point where I don't even consider the possibility of a world without having several assignments due in the next week or so more often.

EDIT: Also, when I went to rent the next season of TNG I grabbed a Snickers. I've been wanting a Snickers for several days, so this is going to be awesome.

I am really glad to hear that!!!!

I just finished that big organic chemistry lab report. My work is probably ridiculously shoddy and my partner's a self-admitted dumbass and I just don't care because it's done. Still need to charge headlong through another two assignments (one paper, one regular homework, both for different classes) and also through finals but the end of the semester actually feels like it's in sight now.

Remember back then when I said there is a chance I'm getting my dream job?

Yeeeep that's a reality now.

I've literally caught myself having spasms of pure joy. It's pretty sweet.
