I made profiteroles! Nothing exploded or burned and while the lack of a proper piping bag/nozzle meant there was a pretty wide range of sizes, they looked pretty good. And tasted excellent too, which is the most important thing.

To be honest I'm just chuffed that I managed to make choux pastry even though I hadn't made it before and it was exactly as it was supposed to be.

Got an acceptance letter for another summer scholarship. Same supervisor as last time, alongside the dude for whom I've been doing odd jobs all year. More chemical/olfactory stuff rather than field work this time round, but that is a-ok.

Goddamn has it been a mood-swingy day. I've still got a fuckton of assignments to start/finish up over the weekend so I'll be scarce, but I'm gainfully employed for the summer again. Which is pretty excellent.

I was finishing off my recently purchased box of golden grahams when I looked down at my counter and discovered a small plastic wrapped container that I did not believe I had put there.

Suddenly, it dawned on me, a fact that I had forgotten since childhood.

Cereal boxes have toys in them

But what was this mystery toy? What 10 cent nicknack had fallen onto my counter?

Oh hells yes.

It seems not only had I forgotten that on occasion toys will frequent the inside of a cereal box, but that said cereal box will often advertise their contents. I had purchased and consumed this entire box of golden grahams without once looking below their trademarked label. This is a good day. My mantelpiece shall don this reward for years to come.

I lost my wallet on the train to XX's, and I missed my train on the way back. I'm a bit behind in my classes, too.

But, you know, I'm actually feeling pretty okay. My credit and debit cards are already cancelled, and the lady selling tickets let me transfer even though I had no ID. I had a great time at XX's, and I'm back home right now, and I'm catching up in class. I wouldn't have been like this a couple years ago.
