imgur and dropbox, yeah. Imgur for more "disposable" stuff, dropbox for things I might need to keep linking repeatedly.

Same here, pretty much, though I use imgur for Meander since Photobucket stopped behaving.

i make it a point to take my avatars from more obscure sources, like storyboards and concept art
and anyone can tell you i also make it a point to only use stupid/hilarious facial expressions for avatars
