The End.
#26
RE: The End.
It must be worried. It's not sure it can win in a direct battle. It's trying to throw you off with its words. Or perhaps it's stalling for time.

The point is, you're enough of a threat that it's trying other tactics. Keep fighting, even if you decide to respond to its words.

You ready yourself to fight again, as you analyze the situation.
It's not worth talking to. It has nothing to say but echoes of noise.

Yet you are curious.

"What do you mean?" You ask.

"I too am, was, and will be haunted." It responds, nonsensically.

"But those are the matters of the human... that you've stirred."

It must be referring to when you impaled it. Freeing the consciousnesses must have triggered... something in the Demon. It's humanoid form may be a testament to that.

You stare at the demon intensely. You think you can just make out an eye behind that mask.

"But who were, are, and will you be?"

Stand, catch your breath, and ready yourself-- chances are it still bears you ill will.

RE: The End.
Deception. Deception is all it spews. You have not come this far to crack under its wiles. Like the others did. Stab it again. Perhaps it will bring more human out of it.

RE: The End.
"Worry not Demon, I will rid you of your ghosts."

Bring up the memories of more who loved you and whom you loved. He may take the form of everything you love if it continues. In the end our heroine would the be forced to kill the form she loves most in this demon.

RE: The End.
Mourn lost memories. Resolve to get them back.

Adventure Idea: a faustian bargain. a quest backwards through your adventure. a quest to find memories and build up your adventure from scratch. or something.

Nah garuru, more effort than I wanna put into this

You are ready to begin the dance again. You will protect yourself better, this time. You have one more question, though.

"Then who were you, and what will you be?"

"Finished."

In accordance to its words, reality... faltered.

No more waiting.

"Demon, I will finish you and rid you of your ghosts."

You take a might leap forward, towards the top of the Second Tower.

Rise on wings of a void wind: air rushing into the gaps between reality and chaos. It has summoned the wind to pull you into its dominion - where you will have to go, and soon, to destroy it totally, but not yet. First it must die upon your plane, your world, your home, your reality.

Forge blades from memory.

Slash upwards with the blade as a feint, then PUNCH HIM IN HIS STUPID FACE! Once you're done running up the tower avoiding whatever he throws at you, of course.

Your feet touch the second tower...

and draw blades from regenerated memory.

The Demon quiets itself,

and walks over the edge to meet you.

It slips through your projectiles, moving like a snake.

Its return projectiles...

Are not even in your direction.

You spin perpendicular to the Demon, building momentum for a giant swing.

...And again, it matches you with a blade to meet you.

You drive your body into it, and reinforce the blow with memory. The impact is a radiant blast.

You feel something on the other side give way.

Unfortunately, it isn't the Demon.

You suddenly remember the damage the Demon had done to this tower far, far in the past.

The second Tower of Midnight begins to fall.

RE: The End.
Be mindful of your environment-- it is as much a weapon as your mind and body. See if you can't lure the demon to the underside of the tower before impact. You may not have enough time, but I'm not sure how time works here, exactly.
#39
RE: The End.
I think it's time you pressed the attack, and brought out one or both of the other Souls you have to bear. You seem to have a speed advantage in the air. Outmaneuver the Demon and knock it around into a more advantageous position for you.

You and the Demon unlock blades. You are sent further from stable ground.

Pressing the advantage, the Demon chases you upward.

However, you may be able to regain the upper hand. You tap your other two reservoirs in the Forum of Souls. The forms of your other two comrades appear.

"Hello there. Its been a while. Is that the Demon? I've been waiting a long time for this."

Gabriel, of the thousand arrows.

"..."

Balthazar, the unknown.

You flash a smile at friends that you've missed.

"Time for business, then."

Twangs begin sounding rapidly and in quick succession, a terrible, monotone song. Gabriel's left arms are a blur as they bring four arrows at a time into the bow string.

A rain of arrows.

The Demon cannot dodge in the air.

Forced down by the hail of arrows, it is pinned back into the tower.

"I'm out of arrows. It was nice to see you again."

Gabriel wisps out.

"See you again, Gabriel. Balthazar, can you spin the tower?"

You receive silence as response, as expected. Still, you know Balthazar won't let you down.

Balthazar's black magic unravels...

and surrounds the tower.

In an instant, the tower spins 180 degrees.

An instant later, the tower smashes into the ground.

"Thanks, Balthazar."

"..."

Balthazar leaves as well.

You land on the tower. Nothing seems to move.

RE: The End.
Demon: You know the drill. Smash the tower in two from beneath.
Heroin: Make a timely dismount.

The demon's appearance should change again; either to more humanoid, or more monstrous based on some arbitrary value. Attack accordingly! (Monstrous would charge, humanoid would send shards of the broken tower at our heroin.)

Heroin, you were once the tank of your party. Summon your sacred, well trusted Shield of Jericho - a shield said to be able to resist a direct attack by the gods themselves.
#43
RE: The End.
Do not expect this to be over yet. Observe from a safe distance, with your guard up. The demon is surely nearly dead by now- all we have to do is survive its last ditch attack and deliver the final dramatic blow, shattering its mask.
#44
RE: The End.
You know the dramatic timing. Gather your energy, leap high into the air and stab down, with enough force to pierce the tower and demon both. If the demon chooses to burst through the tower as your strike lands, all the worse for him.
#45
RE: The End.
Not certain if you have the ability to, but if can, modify your sword so that it's tipped and coated with the same type of memories that protected you earlier. It should give you an extendable reach which would make you effective in close, mid, and long range combat.

RE: The End.

You coat your blade in memory. Combined with your strength of arm, you can cut across great distances. However, it is far more effective to stab.

You intend to stab right though this tower, into the heart of the Demon.

The Demon's unknown position makes you wary. You consider using the Cursed Noble Tool, Stolen from the Traitor- The Scale of Fate. Although the Scale is an ultimate defensive tool, the cost-The redirection of karma- is so, so heavy. You will refrain from its use on a foe on its last legs... at least, what you hope are its last legs.

You'll decide this in a thrust. In the instant of motion.

Now.

As your arm flies down, you begin another thrust. One thrust won't be enough.

Nor will two.

Nor will three... four..fivesixseveneightnineteneleventwelve

You know what you are dealing with. No amount of thrusts will be a guarantee.

The tower becomes porous. You feel the Demon's flesh resist your extended blade.

Your stabs become more and more violent.

Suddenly, you realize you no longer feel resistance. Just dread.

You leap backwards.

The Demon appears an instant later.

"I... don't hate this."

The Demon's form spins, as it begins talking again.

"Spinning... the spiral is alive. It is not a bad thing. It is wonderful, actually."

Darkness violently and continuously spins around the Demon.

"Twisting, tightening, into a consolidated, volatile, single point. The conclusion."

It speaks further riddles. The spinning intensifies. The clouds rotate with the Demon, and grow dark.

RE: The End.
To approach from the front or any side would expose you to shear forces. Circumventing this is easy.

Attack from above. Use the spinning around you to aid your attack, and become a drill to grind away at the Demon's final defenses.
