The UK has voted to leave the European Union, driven by a campaign insisting on 'border protection' (read: racism) and... that's about it, really. It was a very unexpected result because no one expected the xenophobe fascists to actually gain this much ground.
Economically speaking it's a disaster; the pound is currently free-falling into nothingness as investors pull out and the euro's not doing so hot either. Considering London is one of the two primary financial pillars of the global economy it's not looking good for... well, anyone, really.
Also this departure sets a precedent for all the far-right 'independence' parties bubbling in countries like Germany and France, which could cripple the European Union even further. And that wouldn't be a good thing for anyone involved either.
Meanwhile we're seeing what is possibly the beginning of the end for the United Kingdom altogether, since Scotland is almost certainly going to push for a re-independence referendum and Northern Ireland has already called for reunification with the Republic of Ireland in response.
All in all, this is Pretty Bad News and I'm pretty sure we live in the darkest timeline.
