You have school tomorrow, young man. Shouldn’t you be sleeping? Yes, he says. He knows that he should be sleeping, but he is unable to. The young man has a very unfortunate toothache. I am sure that everyone, at one point or another, has had a toothache. But no one, no one ever, has had a toothache quite this unfortunate. What makes this toothache so unfortunate is not the pain that keeps a growing young man up all night, nor is it the inconvenience of the dental appointment his parents will surely have to make. No, what makes this particular toothache so very unfortunate is the fact it is caused by demons.

Or just one demon. He isn’t quite sure.

But what makes him so certain that demons are involved? The ominous taste of sulphur and unaccountable satanic chanting?
