This is a kary egg. Since it's your fist one, it's gonna be a little special.

But before we can get going we need to get some formalities out of the way.

What it needs is a good prompt of sorts. Lucky for you, this one will likely take two prompts. Prompts are important since it gives karies traits, quirks, and personality.

Not all Kary eggs that you will get can take in a lot of prompts. Some can have more than two, some can only take in one, but this starter Kary will definitely take two.

Remember, you can pause this game at any time to adjust options (not that you can do that right now, this is the tutorial after all). We just need some info to get this quick tutorial done with.

Ahh yes, President Roosevelt. Of course. You had been on a grand adventure





You were scouring an unnamed land when you came across this egg. It's larger than a chicken egg for sure, and upon picking it up the strangest thing had happened. It'd completely changed colors. You both pitied this abandoned egg and was fascinated by this sudden development. This was something you definitely had to take back to reccord.

It wasn't too long after on your adventure that the local villagers had shown you what at least appears to have been it's parent of sorts. Supposedly it had been eating their food as soon as it had appeared but up until now they had trouble defeating the beast. It was really quite an oddity, and they remarked that they were quite lucky that they managed to kill it before it dissapeared again. This was also a trait that they ascribed to these creatures.




Upon some inspection of the creature, you could imagine why this would have been a problem creature. It had the appearance of a green-ish snake with blue spines, and looked to be fairly large. Maybe as large as some whales. You were given a particularly large fang from the creature, as they were removing them to be used as some form of weapon against other ones should they ever appear.



Incubating this specimen took a bit of time. It has an honorary spot in the White house and is considered a "pet" of yours. It was one of many pets of yours, but it was considered an oddity in that it took several months of incubation and observation before the creature eventually emerged.

On one fine day, cracks were spotted on it's shell. Within hours, it had finally hatched.




It still had a consistent greenish color like it's parent, but a fairly different shade. That being said, it was lacking spines entirely, and instead seemed to have a set of ears on it. Despite looking like a snake of sorts (like it's predecessor) it wasn't long. It was perhaps maybe a foot and a half long at most, and seemed to be naturally chubbier than a normal snake. It is quite adorable, and you should probably give it a name.

Nice! This looks like a Eukary, which is one of the few types of karies. It seems to have taken in the Feats of Strength and Pistachio Ice-cream Prompts. It's been a bit influenced by the other prompts, but the accepted prompts have been translated into Traits, while an extra has been translated into a quirk with the cute bear-ish ears. That's fairly common if more prompts are given than the Kary egg will take.

Now this little fellow needs a name. It'll grow into an adolescent if given decent space, a good meal, and a little bit of time. Once they get to the adolescent stage of their life, you'll be able to do a lot of cool things as stuff becomes more pronounced.

The name is important, since without a name you won't be able to control this one.

Tachyon

This delightful creature has been named Tachyon. That's a good and proper name for whatever this creature is. The locals mentioned something about a "Kary" so that might make for a decent specie name.



You decide to take care of the creature as one of your own assortment of pets, but one must figure out exactly what this creature eats and it's other assorted needs. It certainly likes to chirp at you, so you can only assume it's imprinted on you like a baby bird and it's parents.

It did not take long to figure out that all these creatures need is an adequate supply of food and space to grow.

Name him Rough Rider

It has been two years since this creature has hatched. While tame, this wasn't the greatest of endeavors. Regardless you, Roosevelt, take care of the creature as it would be cruel to turn loose of it on a whim. Tachyon, or the Rough Rider as it seems to be better known by now days (in the public eye) has made further attempts to locate more of these majestic creatures difficult. Particularly because he's got a tendency of fighting and then devouring any other kary or kary-like creature that you've encountered as soon as he grew large enough to do so.

Aside from the smell of Pistachio, this creature seems to be unnaturally strong. It tends to like to smother or strangle it's prey, and can carry weights that are proportionately much larger than it should be able to carry. The oddest thing is that this creature seems to have a habit of fleeting in and out of reality.

You cannot stand the smell of Pistachio.

You set off in your spare time trying to track down more karies so you may have perhaps either a more useful animal, or at least a companion for Tachyon.



That being said, you've found another egg and have been looking after it with care. It's only been a week since coming by the egg, and there's several noteable differences with this egg and the other (that can be seen; you're only guessing that this is another kary egg and not the egg of a large bird or reptile of sorts).

the scarcity of these creatures is somewhat alarming.




goodness, this incubation period was much shorter than Tachyon's. Perhaps we are in need of another name?

Also what will you do now that you have these two creatures? This will definitely help with remaining the president, having a creature that only you understand, and is also tame and trained to respond to only your commands.

This is a Prokary, another type of Kary. One of the easier tells for what kind of Kary it would be early on is how long it takes one to hatch. Eukaries take longer than Prokaries and often have the longest incubation times.

Tachyon's now a fully grown adult, since the tutorial tends to skip ahead a little bit in the time progression area. We're almost done with the tutorial. As you can see, the prompts have developed into full traits that the Kary will posses once it becomes an adolescent. Once it is an adult it will just grow larger and more powerful.

Also, you now have the CHECK ability. You can Check the status of your Kary and get a couple things of information that is sometimes not immediately stated, like what sort of prompts that they come with or what their temperament is like. Some karies and kary eggs will already come with randomly generated and preset prompts. These delightful stats will be handy to know

Checking your Kary can give you a wealth of information. The image it will pull will provide it's name, it's age, and it's health and if it has a status condition (the latter two only being available in battle or outside of battle if a kary isn't doing so well). You will get much more in-depth info from the check box.

As you can see, it's traits are stated, as well as quirks. Quirks are things that can come from prompts, or as seen here with the addition of the Improved smelling capabilites, develop on their own as time passes.

The asterisks by some of the traits/quirks denotes that it was either direct input from a prompt or was influenced by a prompt during the Kary's creation. Helps keep things tidy when more and more quirks or the occasional trait develop when it grows older and stronger.

You can also see that Tachyon's a Eukary (but that's already been established). With the CHECK command, you are also now privy to their subtype. This is fairly important for battles but we're not quite there in this tutorial just yet. Stats will also play into battles, but Like I mentioned, we're not quite there yet. Traits and quirks can also influence stats, since we get a +3 to our strength stat from that trait,
and Teddy bear ears adds a point into charisma.

That He has been. While the smell is off-putting, you couldn't have asked for a better companion. He's even taken to Muon fairly well in the most recent months. The two have developed quite a bond. That being said, you have been recently gifted an import from Queen Victoria.

She seems to have found one, and knowing your interest in them (as well as their practical use for building very important canals), has decided to send it off to you. It's been growling and scratching in the box for as long as it seems to have been in there (since it took quite some time for it to get here). The creature seems very agitated. She's probably thinking of how proud she is that she's out-done you in this whole business. You'll show her.

It's got both the relaxed Tachyon and the finnicky Muon riled up now that it's here in the box. You figure you could wrestle it into submission if it doesn't calm down and the presence of other karies doesn't seem help it relax.

The creature's been dubbed "Ava Maria" over there. It's quite the ridiculous name.



Oh dear. Seems to already be putting holes in the box now that it can here Tachyon and Muon chittering to each other. The growling's getting louder.



Well bother. It's broken the box and is set on making a mess. Seems like a violent confrontation between you and your karies with this ill-tempered kary is unavoidable.






It seems you are now in a fight of sorts. That can't be good for this building, but you're still the president. That can be fixed later.

You can Fight by using your Karies' abilities. You can Fortify your defenses. Objects (if one has any) can be used to either bolster your own Karies or harm your enemies. Fleeing is also an option one could consider should the battle get too rough.

Tachyon can Fight, Muon is but a babe and should Fortify
