Nostalgfia - GAME OVER SCUM WIN

Nostalgfia - GAME OVER SCUM WIN
RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
its been far too long for me to remember what mafia ratios are so that makes sense to me

im interested and worried about who's going to die but it sounds like theres various, things, that can complicate things, a lot of juicy targets

Vote: CSJ

im pretty down for this lynch here, tmoz i do want robobot, awkward, and pharms to try to participate more so ill say that like, at least think over for the night about who are people you dont like and who are people you like and why?

what dodging, they have made 4 essentially one-sentence joke posts, 3 of which were on day 1. Unless by dodging you mean lurking, which speaking from experience is not a strong scum tell!

Mafia gamin' tip: Be the change you want to see in the world! Push the lynch you want rather than the one you think will save your hide/that you can 'manage', because it sure would make me (and I'm guessing others) less suspicious of you than the latter option.

And no, I don't think a split lynch is happening because one of the prime lynch targets wants it :P

(and also because I think it's impossible - hard lynch is an immediate trigger, and soft lynch only triggers if "someone... holds a plurality of votes when day ends naturally").

I have maybe not been reading closely enough to remember people doing that if they were, but if so please point them out! SEEK, DOG FRIEND!

(So that when someone with a gun gets to nercania if they flip scum we can deffo take a closer look at 'em.)

If you mean the people you were mentioning earlier, though, seedy's vote on Agen (which I guess is the closest thing to what you're trying to point out?) was a day-start lurker-poking one and Pala was recurring his D1 pressure on robottobt and has since swapped to Spoids so... that doesn't seem incredibly 'avoiding nercania while doing the same thing elsewhere' to me?
Quote
RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
them picking one lurker to poke over another is... not a particularly amazing scum tell, even if there is a dog trying to lynch one particular lurker. I don't think at any point either of them were going 'hey everyone we should lynch this lurker now' like you have been re: nercania.
Quote
RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
By dodging, not literal dodging, but attention. It feels like Wheat pushing to lynch them is putting people off, which admittedly is pretty strange. The sheer lack of focus on Cat really rubs me bad; are there people with info we don't know? Are there clear arguments for why lynching Pharmacy is less scummy than cat? unvote.

Given there are still six people not voting it is conceivable that the entire mafia team are lurking, or most of it at least. If we're giving lurkers a free pass two nights in a row, how can we expect them to come out of the woodwork from d3 onwards?

RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
I feel like I might just be arguing with scum here, but

there are multiple reasons why someone might be lurking, only some of which include 'they're scum and are trying to avoid attention', which is a really bad scum strategy because as you and wheat and many others are making very clear, it isn't actually an effective strategy for avoiding attention.

and we are not 'giving lurkers a pass', or did you miss me blatantly saying 'town with a gun should probably shoot nercania if they don't show up with actual posts before the end of the day' :P

Responding to CSJ aside,

I'm honestly not very into the Pharms lynch, am still waiting on Coldblooded to answer my way earlier questions. a52's vote on Pharms is a holdover from their infodump - a52, do you still wanna lynch Pharms or do you have other avenues you'd rather pursue at this juncture?

RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
I'll Vote: CSJ.

I don't know if I have a good read on them, in that going back and looking at their statements it like, I just don't understand what they're getting at a lot of the time? Like, I don't know if I feel STRONGLY about them being scum, but I do feel like their flip would help contextualize some things, depending on which way it goes, which is good, right?

I feel weirder about them than I do than, like, Pharms at least. I wouldn't be opposed to an n-o lynch, fwiw, but at the moment I think CSJ provides more information REGARDLESS of flip.

Hate to be so late getting back to this. Still steadily going mad RE: work. This is likely to continue.

(05-09-2018, 05:33 AM)Palamedes Wrote: »I really don't like how you're being so pushy for frankly irrelevant details Sunspider, why was it such a big deal to get that info from CSJ?

The scummy flailing that followed the questions wasn't something I expected, but hey, bonus! I was mainly leaning on 'em to snoop for evidence of item fakeclaiming, as both a tiny tell, and as some kind of hard info to work from when assessing their tone, and their actions for honesty vs. manipulation. CSJ claimed an item someone else had (Recipe Book), and so far we've had tons of unique items, so it seemed a little unlikely to me.

I notice you're still tunnel-visioning on me to the point that you're even doubting your own reads, and I want to ask you to check yourself. That said, I'll echo what you said RE: not being a fan of people voting for CSJ with no reason. Same goes for those voting for anyone without reason (especially when they claim other suspicions!), or even those willfully abstaining.

Y'all who are doing that, listen up: we've got to think for ourselves, and have to participate, or we're handing the scum team the power to shape lynch votes. Trust your gut if you have to. Just be sure you're not going with whoever shouts loudest.

(05-10-2018, 12:32 AM)CSJ Wrote: »Can those on Pharmacy restate the case for them over wheat so we can at least take down one of the midnight crew with me in a split lynch?

Two things. First, manipulative behavior is pretty stinky. To my knowledge there was no indication whatsoever that split-lynching was a mechanic, and it's much more sensible to think that a tied vote would end in a no-lynch like normal. I assume this was a way of hoping to fool folks into tying a vote so they'd no-lynch again, and keep you alive for a night?

Secondly, my vote on Pharmacy was because they "trusted me and found me helpful" yet apologized and tried to kill me Day 1, were waffley with votes today, and abstained from scum-hunting, voting, or having any suspicions as soon as attention was turned their way. Also, Pharms claimed an item someone else had too (Toilet Paper Tube) so while not a scum tell, I do find that a bit suspect too. But you're right in saying they're not the best scum suspect I can see right now.

CSJ, if I've got your case straight:

The entire scum team may be lurking, so we should lynch lurkers before suspicious players. Your main suspicion is Cat for talking a lot about night actions, which you deem "Basically lurking." But also also you would like to convince people to vote for Nercania because Wheat is voting for them, despite offering no reason other than "We need to kill SOMEONE today." Also also also, you've kept caving on your votes as soon as there's any pressure; you seem to want to buddy with folks (myself included) pretty hard, vote for whoever's easiest to kill, and are people-pleasing up a storm with anyone you butt heads with.

(Sunspider is seated with the remaining years in the middle row of an auction hall, dressed in black garb that speaks more of one attending a funeral. Perhaps appropriate, as two years have died already, with more sure to follow. She looks once at her watch, then to CSJ with confusion and perhaps a twinge of sadness, before raising an auctioneer's paddle with his moniker stamped in it)

SUNSPIDER:
I hope we don't quick-end the day,
But I still have to Vote: CSJ.
Hate to turn on a fan,
But, like... honestly man.
You look scummier with each thing you say.

Sunspider where am I doubting my own reads? And where am I only focusing on you? I mean, if I had tunnel vision on anyone today it was on Robo :S. We also haven't had a ton of unique items, I mean three or four people have claimed antidote so far if I'm remembering correctly.

and it's not like we're at mylo so scum suddenly bursting into the thread and quick-hammering isn't really a concern, either.

As seedy Mirdini just said, we'd need 10 votes to end the day, so we're nowhere near losing time. Votes are Extremely Good for reading players after a role flip, and discouraging 'em could discourage discussion and some of Town's best information for scum-hunting. So yeah, I don't like discouraging votes at this point, but if peeps feel the same way and don't vote for safety's sake, please At Least state your intent to do so.

Feel free to point out where you saw 4 antidotes; I see 2 now, but prior to review I only saw claims of 1 antidote, 1 apple, 1 spring, 1 gun, 1 scope, 1 bone, etc. Second item claims so far are awkwardcarapace claiming Antidote after Robottobot, CSJ claiming Recipe Book after Schazer, and Pharmacy claiming Toilet Paper Tube after I did.

Literally saying: "This exchange looks forced, but also it doesn't. I don't feel confident you're scum anymore, but but I'm going to keep voting to kill you anyway." Also, feel free to tally up posts mentioning Robo if you like, but just a quick synopsis of your tunneling, which I've entitled "Why do you want me to die so badly, Pal?"

I forgot there was maybe a one-way redirector, that's fair, though they may not necessarily be scum?

But yeah in that case any prospective murder pals should probably shoot into the genera lurker pile of nercania/agentblue/idk, akumu kinda? Schazer isn't talking much beyond role/item chat, also, which makes me think they're an item-based third party honestly.

And I think CSJ's lynch provides plenty of info, not in the least who actually agreed to lynching him and in what way/what order/based on what reasoning/how did they engage with his actual posts.

If we lynch nercania it'll just be 'hey let's lynch this lurker'

'ok sure'

nercania: *is lynched because as far as I can tell they are not even reading this thread*

RE: Nostalgfia Day 2 - Death comes at some time
I also do not mind getting an ALL ACCORDING TO KEIKAKU third party out of the picture on d2, unless he's a (non-game-ending because this is not a garbage game) jester in which case, well played I guess, and also jesters are basically honorary mafia members anyway since they happily let themselves get mislynched at mylo.

Agreeing with Wheat that CSJ seems to be third-party. They’re constantly making references to trying to lynch maf/maf suspects:

(with an increasing air of desperation, may I add)

It’s true that lynching a third party doesn’t give us any direct ties or clues to who the rest of the Big Bad Mafia is, but it’s one less threat and i’m happy with that.
