connecting You turn on the command table (somehow...) and scroll through the floor plan of the facility. Everything is coming up empty no signal, and to be frank, with the damage around here structural integrity - low you're not entirely sure that the layout is still accurate...

You grab the boss key. analyzing

All you know about this thing is that it's meant to unlock some sort of hidden potential or proficiency in a given operator. You have no clue how, especially with the key hub retrieve in pieces.

There's really only one recognizable chunk of the hub remaining. analyzing It's the section that was meant for A Wolf. You sincerely doubt it will accept the boss key in this state. remote integration may be possible

Sorry to say, but this interlude has officially overstayed its welcome in my eyes. This seems like a good spot to leave off on and build intrigue. We can get back to the Meanie Greenies and their Nanobot Escapades later.

Now I'm new in town, so I guess I don't really have perspective on how long this interlude has been going on. But I do know that interludes with this style of comic have a way of dragging on and on and on. I think now's a good time to cut it off, with that nice cinematic limb-theft, and go on to the primary story and save the rest of this interlude for another point.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure we ARE out of the interlude. Or,at least that what we're in now is meant to be relevant to the main 'Back goo' plot (there's no way that petri dish of black goo carawling tot he remain of chambers and being hit by whatever the master key nanobots energy thngy wasn't foreshadowing to something).
And when we're back then there'll be the whle Connie battle in the mind stuff that it'd be nice to wrap up.
Let's face it this adventure kinda got lost in plot creep and suffered from pacing problem for a while now, and I can understand if Lufa needs some time to work their way way back to the main waterwork and the story.

It lasted for.. a little less then four years now andabout a small third of the log by now ?

If you've read the blog, I am certain that transitioning to the main plot was the idea with this update. The author did say that the update was to transition with Connie waking up afterwards.

However the next update might take a while because MSPFA's having technical concerns and I assume it wouldn't sit well with LuFa on having two new updates here while no updates on the MSPFA.

Hey, I'm sorry if what I said earlier about how I was sick of this intermission was rude/mean/ignorant/anything like that. I just meant that this seems like a good place to leave off for now and get back to the events at the Waterworks, and leave this plot thread to be tied up later. I figured that would happen anyway so I wanted to encourage it, but it's Lufa's decision and I didn't mean to stifle creativity or smth like that

Well.

Well, well, well.

How did you find yourself in this mess? Just... How?

You got kicked in the face so hard that it launched you into the air, and you evidently liked that moment so much you decided to experience it again.

Let's have a quick recap and see what brought you here.

You originally came to this place because you were tired of the problems with the water in your house. What did you even think you were going to accomplish by coming here? Maybe file a complaint or something? Sheesh.

You went in deeper and found that there was some form of shit that was going down and/or getting real. Kidnapped workers, strange people with strange technology, and a toxic goo that was slowly getting all up in everyone's business.

You helped the workers and fought some blue boys. Apparently their boss has some kind of aversion to fish.

In a moment of emotional weakness, you destroyed a particularly smelly fish that was keeping him away.

The workers said that they had sent some plumbers down into the basement to retrieve some more, but they hadn't returned. You decided to go on a little rescue mission, and ended up acquainting yourself with some black goo while you were down there.

You killed an alien tree-serpent and saved the plumbers! However, the goo snake was pregnant with a smaller creature, who you thought you could kill by stepping on its brain.

Word of advice - don't step on a hivemind brain. Leads to weird brain shit. You've been stuck spinning your wheels, reliving your memories and fighting your subconscious projections.

You have no clue how you're going to break out of this loop. You guess you could try finding the hivemind's consciousness and beating the crap out of it. You'd feel better, but you're not sure if it'd get anything done.

Anyway, with all that said... The current memory that you're stuck in is the one where a flipper was so lovingly lodged into your jawline that it launched you off a catwalk and into the depths below. You remember hitting the water, and then darkness.

What happens when you're forced to re-live a missing memory?

That's the point in a dream where your subconscious starts filling in the blanks, usually by stringing unrelated memories with similar features.
