with a lower quota, more things would get put to the vote and people would possibly be more encouraged to propose off-the-wall things often

that wouldn't be a good idea because then if someone sneaks in a proposal and maybe there's a flurry of forum activity and it gets buried underneath other threads, something that has no business being passed could get passed by default

just think of the pranking possibilities it opens up though

i don't want official pranks. that makes it feel like something obligatory instead of for the heck of it.

personally, somedays i'm tired and don't want to do things, and other days i'm up to it so I would personally only want to do have things on the days I feel like it. that's just me though

I agree that the setup that we have right now is supposed to Byzantine and requires too many people to get anything done and think that we should establish a new set of rules without wasting the time doing it through the current rules that we have. However, I also don't care enough about the legislation of hawkspace to spend any time making that happen, in part because the current rules would make it such a hassle.

still though, in the existing quorum structure, the votes go straight from proposal to 8 yesseses, so that the whole quoruming procedure feels mightily ancillary. who votes for a quorum but also votes "no"? it would be much more easy to understand if the rule was simply that if any proposal secures 8 net yessesesses it passeses. call this proposal petey-c-a

petey c-b shall also lower the net yes requirement to 6, which should be high enough to be slightly prohibitive but low enough to be more achievable

we can just say that proposals can't take effect until it's been at least a week since it's been proposed. i'll fold that right on into the main body of petey-c-a if i may, and also i'd like to fold 7 into petey-c-b (since i remembered people settling on "6" on page 5 but then checked and it had been 7 all along), again, if it doesn't violate, like... procedure? trust? i don't wanna just edit the stuff all sly-like and be a real ratfucker

yeah but, in the case of something like lockpick, if it's been more than a week and THEN the rush comes, well, it's still had the necessary time to be deliberated upon and then become popular.

and i think we'd be able to catch an edited-in proposal, plus i don't think anyone here would actually try that ridiculous bad-faith stunt

A. Summary: OP of a thread can say **lock this thread** or **unlock thread <title>** to lock/unlock a thread, maximum 3 locks + 3 unlocks per week.

1. The original poster of a thread (the person with the first post) has the ability to post **lock this thread** at any time, and Pharmdrugs must lock the thread for them. This can be done in the thread, or the OP can post **lock thread <title of thread>** in this thread. Also, any other mod/admin, if asked and if they feel like it, may lock the thread as well (though if they post that they are not willing to do this, please do not bother them! also do not go out of your way to ask them, it's more of if you're on chat/skype/irc with them already).

2. To unlock a thread, the OP may post in this thread **unlock thread <title of thread here>** . Also, can PM pharmdrugs, though this is less reliable. Also, if talking to another modmin, they may do it.

3. Try not to abuse this. Maximum of 3 lockings and 3 unlockings per week.
