BLACK SUN

BLACK SUN
One day, the Earth was normal.

Then, the next...

It just wasn't.

In the span of one night, all the color went away. Humanity blinked collectively and suddenly everything was a monotone black and white.

And yet, no real panic arised, as if with the color, even our feelings went away, slowly but surely.

It's been 2 years since that day.

Nobody knows why this happened, or if there's even a reason for it at all.

And maybe, there really was no reason for it. Maybe it was all pure chance. Maybe our planet lost the ultra-galactic space lottery and this was the punishment. It could be something serious, or something stupid, like aliens pulling a dumb prank on us.

Nobody really knows. Nobody will ever know either, probably.

So we keep going, as if nothing ever happened, our eyes slowly getting used to the striking contrast.

Our memories of colors slowly fading away, soon to be forgotten by newer generations.

Unfettered. Unfazed. Not even seeming to care.

All under the glaring, paradoxical light of our BLACK SUN.

ka-TLUNK.

The door closes behind you and you're left in silence at the entrance of your small APARTMENT. You've just come back from a walk to the SOLITARY HILL, just outside the CITY. It is your favorite place to be. It helps you relax, collect your thoughts, and shake away all the stress of the day.
Today, though, you might have been thinking a bit too much, so you've come home with a sense of restlessness and unease. It's probably a sign that today might not be a pleasant day at all, and yet it's barely 1 PM, so you've still got a long way until you can go to sleep.

What will you do?

Yeah, that's your name. Always been that way, as far as you're concerned.

You're really not the best painter...

> Knock bowl over. delinquency quota met.

You hesitantly knock the LITTLE BOWL where you keep your keys over. It falls on the fitted carpet with dull thud, but otherwise doesn't break or anything. Thankfully.
You pick it up, a bit ashamed, and gingerly put it back on the DRESSER. You're really not the best delinquent either, so there's no delinquency quota to meet.
While you're at it, you put your KEYS in the bowl, a little habit you've always had. There, as it should be. Now you'll always know where to search for them if you need to go out again.

> Clear out your dresser, tidy things up a little.

You open a drawer and are pleasantly reminded that you are a very NEAT person. You like your living space to be nice and tidied up and orderly. Not too much, but just the right amount. The MISCELLANEOUS OBJECTS inside are clearly put with care, so as to make it easy to search through them for a specific one.
You see there's some CANDY in there. You're not particularly hungry, but you do have a sweet tooth. You take one piece of COFFEE-FLAVORED CANDY with you. Your favorite.

You go into your BEDROOM and check to see if there's anything noteworthy outside... but are met with disappointing normality. The people keep walking towards their destination. Cars quickly come and go from your field of vision. The light is bright but hazy, as usual. A black sun does strange things.

You stop looking out the window. You've got enough sightseeing for today, you think.

> Eat wallet, spend candy.

You're pretty sure your wallet is made from materials that would be toxic at best for a human to consume. It was pretty cheap after all. You'd rather not get a stomachache... or worse.

Alas, you're also not privy to any society that uses candy as currency. Man, you'd love to live in such a place.

You wonder if there'd still be colors there.

> Examine room.

Your apartment is pretty barren - you may be orderly but you're not one for fancy decorations - and the entrance is no exception. Except for the DRESSER and a simple PHOTOGRAPH hanging on the wall, there's nothing else.
Going forwards, you go into a TINY KITCHEN, so tiny you can't even eat there, you can only cook. The FRIDGE barely fits in it.
On your right, there's the small LIVING ROOM. You say small, but it's big enough for one person, and that's good for you. Nothing too fancy, a COUCH and a TV. Also a TABLE to eat on.
Finally, on your left, there's your BEDROOM. That too is pretty small but just right for you: there's the BED, a BEDSIDE TABLE, and a DESK with a LATPOP on it, and connected to it is the only BATHROOM.

> Check email.

Speaking of your LAPTOP, you turn it on. As soon as it's working, you check out your e-mails: you wonder if there's any news coming from your WORKPLACE.

There's three new e-mails. Should you read them?
