Give him a lesson in pain, then threaten him into compliance.

I'm sorry, but i feel it would actually decrease Lucia's legitimacy to resort to violence right off the bat. Or at the very least, it will likely result in her killing Dumpty there instead of recruiting them... So imma unsecond these and go with:

Threaten>Lucia: remind the welp how they literally don't exist without you. Make it clear their attitude will only bring them pain, not even necessarily from you. By dissing on you they're literally crushing their own spirit. You're stronger-willed and deadlier than them, there is no contest there. After all, they're only a small splinter of you... One with a very rotten attitude.

You just going to ignore the fact that beating the shit out of him is an entirely valid strategy?

Seconding. We can also subconsciously command the servants, so Lucia shouldn't even need to talk, the servants should just act.

Lucia: try and freeze him with your magic gloves

You conjure an ice spike to teach the tiny shadow a lesson in pain! The defiance meter increases.

The tiny shadow flails two shadow tendrils out and lashes you decreasing the defiance meter. It appears it can decrease it more than you can increase it...

>Lucia: The situation is currently in your enemy's favor, so why not change it? Use your gloves to hit him with spikes of stone or ice, angled to keep him from advancing, and move backwards out of his range while keeping the spikes up. Then you can brag about how cool your current servants' clothing is compared to his and threaten to take away his hat or something if he keeps misbehaving, all from a relatively safe distance. And if he gets past the spikes, you hit him with your scythe once he walks into range. Control the pace, control the distance, and give yourself more opportunities to hit him than you give him opportunities to hit you.

It seems the tiny shadow servant is fearful it might be incorrect. Your defiance meter increases! It is hesitant to attack again and chooses to do nothing.

Since having others vouch for you is a lot more effective in claiming legitimacy.

this could backfire if they don't have a clear reason or it doesn't sound convincing enough, down voting.

It might be a good point of reference to see how they're doing now that there's another member. Having more servants is supposed to make Lucia more convincing, maybe that also changes how the servants act?

As you venture further into the Pitch Black, you find a tall and slender shadow holding an intimidating spear...

Seems this servant wants to see a magic trick that only the Maid of Dusk can do. Are you confident you can win it over? If you are unsure you might be in over your head with this one.

(Defiance)
1. Give him a good whack upside the head to remind him who he's dealing with
2. Have the servants do a coordinated dance
3. Argue that it's making a big mistake threatening your team
4. Attempt to conjure something

(waver)
5. Keep it moving
