There's a bit more to the story.

Didn't we used to have a catch all chatting style thread devoted exclusively to the topic of media (certainly inclusive of televisual programming and motion pictures, and perhaps other media which have at this moment slipped my mind)?

It was there that I wanted to voice opinions on a program I just watched called New Girl, or as I like to call it 'Tragically Quirky Girl and The Three Interchangable Morons'. I don't normally have such a strong dislike to a program straight out the gate. I tend to appreciate that pilot episodes are often the poorest episodes because they have dual purposes of setting up the overall situation and telling an entertaining story. But this program. It was bad, though perhaps not irredeemable until the very end where for some reason I am yet to fully fathom the three douchebags launch into an ill-conceived rendition of the chorus of 'I've Had The Time Of My Life' in the middle of a crowded restaurant, whereupon all potential credibility for the show is flushed down the drain.

Decided to go see what that is on TV Tropes.

Got partway through the first sentence describing it and I've had enough. "Jessica Day is a socially awkward young woman who, fresh out of a recent break-up with her model ex-boyfriend-"

NOPE.

I can't help but come up with silly endings for that sentence.

"...is entered into an interdimensional battle to the death against her will."

"...gets bitten by a radioactive spider and develops superpowers."

"...has only 30 minutes to find and defuse a bomb before the entire city is destroyed!"

"...now finds herself a suspect in his murder."

I double dare someone to use one of those sentences for an up for grabs entry or else i'll unleash my wrath upon eagle time.

Going back to the topic of avatars because I wanted to say something:

Every time I see woff's avatar I can't help but stop and stare. It has the same effect on me that Slorange's old avatar on the MSPA forums had - the one that was just him stretching up and down rapidly. It's even worse when I'm sleep deprived and can just stare at something moving slightly for minutes on end while my mind just goes completely blank.

Update on counting 300-odd trays full of aphids: I'm gonna take some of that initiative shit and do some testing off the grid (researchers do all their legit stuff on some kind of grid, right?) and run some extra trials about effective data procurement. If these go well, it gives me the ability to advise people doing similar tests on good experiment procedure for optimum results!

Namely, whether aphids will escape out of an unsealed petri dish into an incubator's various corners over the space of a weekend. Results pending Monday morning.
