I'm thinking the "+M" means to shift everything in "SNOWBALL" forward according to the M alphabet. So I think this is a shift of 12.

If you add up all the letters in "ADDINGUP" you get Q. This matches with what's above, since if you add up all the letters in "SNOWBALL" you get M.
