The blue stuff is science in weird colour-coded cape form - different degrees have different colours. Of course, academic cloak colours differ wildly from universities within New Zealand, and they're even less consistent across countries. Dark blue (Ultramarine, in my case) is science, although it's apparently about six other things depending on where you studied, so w/evs man.

I probably can't invent stuff, Ed, but I can totally still be a scientist! I can look for things (ecological things in my case, presumably) which make me ask questions that nobody has the answer to, then start thinking about a way to answer them.

Of course in my usual devil-may-care way I am not doing Science for the next bit but instead going on a romp to Japan to do teachering, which was something I wanted to try anyway.
