Deedee, with their fancy sensors decides to pipe in, unimpressed with your result. Something did react to you, all right. A whole bunch of flying things just took off from some... forested(?) areas nearby. Forests mean precipitation and precipitation means flowing water. That's a better path to the waterfall than sheer desert, but it does mean travelling in dense alien terrain, capable of sustaining larger lifeforms, whatever those may be. It's an option.
A better option might be the smoking impact site at about 4 radians. A crash site means modern materials, things you can use to build a shelter and if you're lucky some emergency supplies survived. However, using Deedee's active sensors means sending out a ping of sorts. - that's the cost of gathering so much raw data quickly.
