The only thing interesting to note is that the tree has some awful CLAW MARKS in the side.
Oh no!
Surely any manner of horrible beast could have made them, but you have a sneaking suspicion this must be the work of the DRAGON!

There is a town nearby. You aren't from there, but you visit from time to time. It's where the judge lives!
You recall there being a lake and mountains around here, in opposite directions.
