Name our government

As we are a democracy which will eventually embark upon democratically electing democratic leaders for life, I move to name our government 'The People's Democratic Republic of Hawk.'

Can someone explain to me in easy words how "democratic republic" is not a contradiction in terms, I just think of the two American political parties

a republic is a form of government where a bunch of people get together in an expensive building and argue, like in parliament or funkadelic. a democratic republic is when we vote on who gets to show up and argue

This is a great name, but seems to apply to our geographical location rather than our government. So we would be the People's Democratic Republic of Hawk, which is the sovereign government of the land of 'Also Eagle Time'
