Pokemon XY OU Monotype Tournament - STARTING

The only way for my team to take down talonflame is to sacrifice whichever pokemon is in when it comes in, let drapion get a shot on it then die in two hits, then let a sashed gengar finish it off. Not much fun.

i don't even remember who is on my team or what they can do!

Fun fact: that was the same state of preparation i had for round 1!

None of Flying, Electric, Rock, or Ice have been taken either. If we're just round-robinning it as fast and haphazardly as we can, there's probably no harm in whipping up a team?

Worth mentioning: I have one Poke I think recently got moved up to "Uber" status.

I mean if we're still going by the bans list plus talonflame that shouldnt be a problem but yknow.

Amos if you're making a Steel Team you won't be able to have Talonflame, as it's a flying/fire type.

Also I assembled a table with all results so far inputted. It's free to edit so just add things as y'all see fit.

Talonflame isn't the only new uber.

Aegislash? I'm gonna chalk that up to Smogon being huge babies who don't like viable gimmick pokemon. Same with Swagger Klefki, really.

I think Slorange runs an Aegislash too so I don't think it's a big deal and don't think we'll be banning them from the tourney, though I guess that's Para's final call.

I was eventually convinced that swagkey is worth banning (or rather, swagplay in general) not because it's gimmicky (it is, but so are lots of things) or because it's brainless (it's not, there are a lot of calculated risks to take and decisions to make), but because it's essentially something that can't be answered with any consistency except by one otherwise-useless ability and another very rare (but great) one. There is no skill in responding to swagplay; it all comes down to a series of coin flips and switches that mulch you with entry hazards. Most strategies have answers that require skill and decision-making on the part of the person being targeted by them: switch to a wall or a faster sweeper against a sweeper, switch to a stallbreaker or booster against a wall, switch to a cleric or magic bouncer against status-heavy annoyers. Swagplay... not so much.

That said, Aegislash as an uber is... silly. But I may be prejudiced.
