BTP'S SUPER SKETCHY SUPER SINNOH POKEMON STICKER BOOK SHOWDOWN

A few years back I purchased an UNHOLY NUMBER OF LIBRARY BOOKS.

I have been frantically trying to rid myself of the buggers BUT in the middle of upacking these I discovered this holy grail:

A used, middle school classroom pokemon book just CHALKED UP with stickers of the little guys.



Over 210 of 'em!

Except...to my dismay...

Many of the pokemon stickers in this book were sadly, tragically REMOVED! BLASTED OFF by some euntreprinual ten year old.

But... not all of them...

Inside of this pokedex-like book of what should be every one of the 151 Sinnoh Region PokePals are in fact THIRTY-NINE remaining pokemon. These 39 pokemon are READY TO RUMBLE.


I'm going to attempt the impossible in the year of our lord 2026, and get SIX people to sign up for a POKEMON SHOWDOWN BATTLE TOURNAMENT on Eagle-Time.ORG using only these 39 pokemon.

The catch: I will *not* be telling you what the 39 pokemon remaining in the book are.

Each trainer will have to divine which pokemon were NOT COOL ENOUGH to have their sticker swiped by a real actual 10 year old, and balance that with the desire to have a competitive pokemon showdown team.

Rules:
1) Post your list of six sinnoh pokemon.
1a) You CANNOT post a pokemon that is already in someone else's list (I only have one sticker for each).
2) I will PM you a photo of your pokemon lineup - If your selected pokemon aren't there, sorry you're going into battle down a pocketmonster.
3) Once all pokemon teams are set up battles will be randomized. and we will BATTLE!

The WINNER of the tournament will be able to send this pokemon sticker book to ANY ADDRESS they choose (overseas shipping? No problem!)  I'll even customize it however you'd like!

I will say I think that the best plan for this is to think about yourself as a ten year old and choose which Pokemon you would think are lame.

Don't take anything I say here as a hard or fast rule...that being said, Looking at these photos, and comparing them to  the national dex, I think that if you figure a pokemon is particularly badass or particularly cute, it probably won't be here.

I will also say this. If you try to add any legendary to your team, you will end up with an empty space.

I don't know how to be competitive in Pokemon so I'm just picking the pokemon I like best and crossing my fingers.

This is sinnoh rules! So the big development is that some moves are physical and others are special typing. Also I don't have any mega evolution or gigantamax stickers. Does showdown have a way to do just gen 4 rules? Whatever the closest to that is.

Okay, I've been racking my brain over this and I think the answer is that *the person with fewer pokemon will pick the format* (double vs. single). If two people have the same number and disagree on the format, then the format will be decided by coin flip. (All this planning will happen well before the actual match, so strategy adjustments can be made).

OH also I have discovered that we actually have 41 pokemon! Two pokemon stickers were removed and then just placed on the back of the book. ALSO there is a single pokemon sticker that was clearly removed, and then replaced on to the same square. These 3 *almost chosen* pokemon will receive a *SPECIAL BOON* if someone happens to select them.

Aaalso I have realized that in the event that someone gets NONE pokemon, I do have a backup option for them. It's not the best option, but it will let you still participate while maintaining the core rule of the competition (pokefriend has gotta be a sticker in the book.)

Woah wowie! 4 people! That's enough for a proper tournament.

I initially said 6 because that was, in theory, the max number of people who could participate and we'd still have a full team, but NO WORRIES. We could probably go as high as 8.

I'll try and fanangle some more pokesticker champions, but if we don't have any signups before...say this Saturday? We will lock the roster there.

I'm psyched for some pokebattles!

I am not the biggest fan of pokemon but guessing which stickers are left is too tempting!!

(If someone wants to assume my team as my Designated Champion, simply declare it. Otherwise, I will fight my own battles...)
