Emily is good with people, and Garreth is a good advisor. Between the two of them, and Derrick's knowledge of Lucia, they should be able to figure something out that will work.

Derrick: Well, I guess... I can tell you something.
Derrick: I've told Garry already, but today my sister has admitted something to me.
Emily: ..!!!
Emily: And??
Derrick: Well, I was devastated, I still am.
Derrick: I stormed out of the house early, and that's when I shared it with Garry.
Derrick: My sister, the one person I thought I could trust... had betrayed me.
Emily: I understand how you must feel, these things... Are worse coming from someone you care for and trust.
Emily: However, your sister is...
Emily: I believe that she is quite regretful. She needs to work through this with someone.
Derrick: I left Lexii with her.
Emily: ..... I mean someone professional.
Derrick: You mean like therapy?
Emily: Think about it, Derrick.
Emily: She was willing to hold this from you for such a long time, she has to have issues. Something you can't just notice by talking to her.
Emily: Until these things are brought to the surface for her to face she may just hold it down for as long as she can.
Emily: Poisoning herself and those around her.
Emily: Consider it.
Derrick: I see, I will do that.
Emily: Though her admitting such a thing is quite brave, I must give her credit.
Emily: Could you forgive her?
Derrick: ....
Derrick: I could. But...
Derrick: I don't know if I could really...
Emily: What do you mean?
Derrick: Well, when she told me... I felt... Red.
Derrick: My vision was blurred, I just... began talking.
Derrick: The words poured out of me like a river bursting through a dam.
Derrick: I was angry, which is rare for me.
Derrick: The last time I was that angry I...
Derrick: ... I just wish I could make sense of this better.
Derrick: I feel like there's two of me. There's the me that is okay, calm, sometimes scared but more or less shy or meek.
Derrick: And then there's this other me, that isn't scared of anything, and is very angry. Sometimes I feel like the other me wants to say something, but I hold back.
Derrick: Sometimes I feel like the other me wants to do something, but I refuse.
Derrick: That's what I mean when I said "I could", but I don't know for sure...
Emily: You know what, Derrick?
Emily: This "red" feeling you had might be connected to how you feel about... your sister.
Emily: Anger.
Emily: You're mad at your sister, but...
Emily: She's all you have.
Emily: So you stifle this feeling. And pretend everything is fine, but the anger doesn't go away.
Emily: Instead of dealing with your problem, you stuffed it in a closet.
Emily: And it festered and grew while you weren't paying attention.
Emily: Now it's gotten so bad, any little reaction that brings out the "red" feeling is a huge overreaction!
Emily: You might be capable of hurting her in this case.
Derrick: I...
Derrick: I know. I'm not going to lie.
Derrick: I did think about it.
Derrick: I would have too, if I didn't storm out.
Derrick: I just feel like the other me would have.
Emily: Maybe you need a professional as well.
Derrick: .......... I suppose we're both pretty fucked up.
Emily: There is no shame in admitting you can't do things alone.
Emily: Just take it slow, and you'll be fine.

Derrick: Do you have any idea how we're going to convince Lucia's mom to stay in the room?
Garreth: Does Lucia's mom know you?
Derrick: .... I've never seen her before.
Garreth: Maybe Lucia has talked about you?
Derrick: I really don't know.
Garreth: She might not believe you're friends unless you tell her something concrete.
Derrick: Oh, that's easy!
Garreth: And... You can't tell her anything about... Well, us. What our dreams were about and the like.
Garreth: In her state, she'll only reject us.
Garreth: If she does, I don't think we'll be able to do anything within her consent, meaning you might need to be forceful.
Emily: Let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Garreth: What do you want to mention?

You should mention something Lucia really liked, like her favourite toy or her preferred food.
If she still doens't listen, maybe you could say something you know directly from Lucia that in theory you can't know, for example, describing her bedroom you saw in the dreamworld in detail should spook her mother enough to make her listen but it could probably have unwanted consequences. Use the latter as last resort.

Derrick: How about this?
Garreth: ?
Derrick: I'll tell her something about when we were kids, like she used to come over to my house a lot, and that she worked all the time and she didn't like her step-dad so she avoided her home.
Derrick: Then I'll tell her that it was today that I realized her status and I went to see how she was doing.
Derrick: Then depending on how receptive she is I can tell her that Lucia's been trying to communicate with me in my dreams so it's important that I must be here.
Garreth: I'd... Leave that last part out, she won't understand.
Garreth: But if the beginning part is enough to get your foot in the door, then we'll start with that.
Garreth: What else?

>2: You could build on that, and say that under your misconceptions you grieved for Lucia once before. You doing it on your own was really hard, and maybe you being there could help her. Alternatively, you could just talk about things you've done with Lucia from when you were younger. Telling stories like that often helps people in that situation deal with their emotions better. You could probably ask Emily for a good approach with that, she seems pretty good at that stuff.

I like that Garry was so damned practical. If it comes to it, if we fudge this up hard... we're going to have to clean Lucia's Mom's clock to open the window to kiss Lucia. If it seems like she won't let Derrick close to Lucia no matter what, we need to try and manipulate Mom!Lucia into wanting to do the plugjerk herself, without the doctors/nurses present. But to do any of this we need to establish Derrick is Lucia's old friend first.

Derrick: The necklace I bought!
Derrick: I didn't see it on the table, she must have removed it. I can tell her I sent it!
Garreth: .... You're getting your wires crossed, Derrick.
Derrick: Huh?
Garreth: "You" didn't leave that there. Lexii did.
Garreth: If you have to explain that part, you messed up the first part about you not knowing her status until today.
Garreth: You'll have to scrap that, otherwise she will think it's fishy.
Derrick: Okay...
Derrick: I'll replace the part about me finding out her status today with, I came by a few days earlier when I heard about her condition. When we were kids she told me about the importance of this symbol she was very fond of, an eye.
Derrick: The necklace I brought for her was to watch over her, or for good luck.
Garreth: Very good.
Derrick: I could explain that I've grieved for her in the past when she stopped coming around. I had gotten a letter that she was.... In a coma.
Derrick: And then maybe talk about the things we did as kids.
Derrick: I feel like talking about how she was when she was awake would be something she'd want to hear, as she wasn't around much.
Emily: That's a great idea, Derrick!
Emily: There's nothing more comforting that reliving a memory in fondness of a loved one.
Emily: Lucia's mother may be in terrible pain, but I think you may have the answer.
Garreth: Okay, with this, it should be a good start.
Garreth: Now let's think about a case where none of this works out.
Garreth: Perhaps she doesn't believe anything you say, or something you do say angers or saddens her, what then?
Derrick: Never mind what ifs, Garry.
Garreth: Derrick, it's still early, there's no rush.
Derrick: I'll need my head clear on what I must act with, I can't be worrying on what will and won't work.

Discussing backups is the logical thing to do, and good planning. Problem is, Derrick is not logical. When he's even the slightest bit ruffled or confused he locks up, shuts down, and falls apart unless he has a determined plan of action to stick to. If said plan were the thing to make him confused and fall apart, I don't think he'd be any use.
This is a conundrum.

Emily: What a strange development.
Garreth: This is an unprecedented point in this iteration.
Garreth: We managed to make it into the unknown, I couldn't say what could come about at this point.
Garreth: What I do know for sure is... Alice has definitely backed down. She would have something in place by now to stop this if she wanted to.
Garreth: Us going undisturbed this long is quite telling of that.
Emily: Where do you think I got the passes from?
Emily: I had Alice do us a favour, she has forgiven Lucia of everything.
Garreth: W-what? How?
Emily: It's part of her path to reconciliation.
Emily: She is deeply damaged, and I really feel she doesn't understand just how damaged she truly is...
Emily: For now, I've got her to agree to see me every now and then to talk.
Garreth: This... explains so much.
Emily: If we're to end this, we must all work together.
Emily: That includes seeing the whole picture.
Garreth: Right now Derrick is a bit overwhelmed with things, so I can understand why he'd want to have a single point to focus on in this mission.
Garreth: But we have to come up with ways this can go wrong.
Garreth: If Derrick messages us for help, and we give him bad information, things can go south really fast.
Garreth: If we lose Lucia, I don't know how this iteration will continue successfully.
Emily: But wait, I can't recall who told me this but...
Emily: Lucia can't die here, can she?
Emily: I mean, she's like us... Right?
Garreth: .... Not exactly.
Emily: Of all the times I've died, I've always been able to come back.
Emily: And I've died thousands upon thousands of times.
Garreth: .......
Emily: I'm just asking if Lucia is the same.
Garreth: She's not the same.
Garreth: From what I understand, Lucia's death specifically disturbs the construct.
Garreth: I don't know why.
Emily: But if so, then Alice can just reset everything right?
Garreth: .... She only resets when Derrick dies, she doesn't care about anyone else.
Emily: Okay, well then...
Emily: If Lucia dies... Derrick won't be killed by her.
Garreth: Yes, that's the idea, but every time she tries to kill her the construct rejects the attempt.
Emily: So Alice can't kill Lucia.
Garreth: No.
Emily: But Lucia CAN die?
Garreth: Yes.
Emily: And if she does.... Derrick will live?
Garreth: It's unknown. Lucia has always been the one to kill Derrick.
Garreth: Like I said, this point has been unprecedented.
Emily: In the interest of saving Derrick, pardon my thought process but...
Emily: Wouldn't it be in Alice's favor to let this play out in the negative?
Garreth: So you want to sacrifice Lucia to save Derrick?
Emily: N-no! I'm just saying--
Garreth: Emily, of all the times you've been killed why is it this iteration, the only one you've managed to live on in, the iteration where you've successfully reached Alice?
Emily: .....I
Garreth: I believe that the only way to get out of here, is with all of us alive and well like how it started.
Garreth: And that it is impossible to get out without all of us.
Emily: I'm just trying to understand something...
Garreth: What's that?
Emily: I'm trying to understand why Lucia's life is so important to the construct's stability if she can die anyway.
Emily: Would her death not bring about the end as well, against Alice's wishes to move forward?
Emily: Why is it that Alice's intent on killing Lucia disrupts the construct, but her death is still a viable route regardless?
Garreth: .... The only way I can rationalize that is...
Garreth: And I may be totally wrong on this.
Garreth: Alice is being watched by someone or something.
Garreth: Maybe her own morality.
Garreth: Her direct intervention is seen as unfair, and the construct calls foul-play.
Emily: But Alice has directly removed me thousands of times.
Garreth: Maybe it's not about you, but rather... About Alice's own position.
Garreth: Alice has removed you because in her eyes you were seen as an annoyance.
Garreth: But in this case Alice is trying to remove Lucia to literally resolve the problem.
Garreth: The problem cannot be resolved by forcing her out.
Emily: But she can still be moved out by other means.
Garreth: Yes, but I think that's allowed because inherently it doesn't resolve the problem.
Garreth: See, I think the construct - this reality - It's not just a miniature universe filled with our collective thoughts and memories.
Garreth: It's some kind of... Lesson.
Garreth: Some big elaborate simulation game to teach Alice something.
Garreth: When she goes the egotistical, "me, me, me" forced solution route, she's going against the point of it, and thus the construct's "purpose" is in question and starts to rattle.
Garreth: But when she plays along and rationally sifts through ways to resolve her issue, it stays intact.
Garreth: If Lucia dying by Alice makes the construct rattle it means, she's doing it wrong.
Garreth: It does not mean Lucia cannot die.
Emily: Ahh, I see.
Garreth: So Lucia's life is still equally as important.
Emily: But if she does die, how would Derrick?
Garreth: If my theory is correct... I think the construct will have plans for him to die. It would be unforeseen.
Emily: And what theory is that?
Garreth: My theory is that the construct plays out like timelines.
Garreth: Within major timelines, we'll call them A, B, C etc...
Garreth: There's branches, we'll call them 1, 2, 3 etc...
Garreth: If timeline A is where Derrick dies, then it doesn't matter what you do in the branches, the end result is he'll die no matter what.
Garreth: The goal then, would be to get to timelines B, or C.
Garreth: Something Alice has yet to do evidently.
Emily: So is it too late for us?
Garreth: Not necessarily.
Garreth: Like I said where we are right now, is never before seen.
Garreth: Which means we're no longer in timeline A.
Garreth: This can go anywhere.
Garreth: But what's also true is Derrick is still uncertain.
Garreth: Until we get to the bottom of this Derrick death thing, I fear we'll never get out of here.
Emily: Geez...

This is where I finally chime in. Hi again guys. I know you don't remember me because I have yet to contribute anything of import...as a matter of fact I have only posted once this entire time. The reason? I am a Bard of Void. Emptiness is my song. Loneliness is my existence. And I can literally see Garreth filling the void that is this iteration. Focus on ABC 123. Build on it. Make maps of it. Create items concerning Time and Space based on those projections. Continue on with deciding what to do and how to do between the 2 choices here but most of the patrons here need to focus on the big picture.
