please do not bring whatever clever third option you are dreaming up into this thread. that means no countries, laws, ghosts, thoughts, feelings, cryptids. this thread is strictly for comparing our friendly government-mandated duties to the pantheon of powerful deities (that means no jury duty or aliens, either.)

i'm on team tax. for starts, tax don't bark. they don't bark when they want fed, they don't bark for no reason in the middle of the night and wake up you and your neighbors, they just don't bark. conversely, gods don't purr. you can't keep a tax inside. in fact, it's probably better to given their conceptual nature which i KNOW some bird fan is gonna bring up later. tax is simpler than is commonly believed, they're just a singular form for taxes. this means that they're also much more singular, less plural, but they're still there when you want something to tax. a tax can be put on anything, like literally anything put in front of them, including their own poop

I already had this conversation recently and it was very traumatic. I don't want to go back to that place, where my dreams died.

In general I'd pick tax over gods, but my favorite goddess, Nyx, is super awesome and way better than tax so I have to go gods.

Taxes are terrible and ruin everything.

Gods are also terrible, and ruin everything even more, but are at least entertaining.

This is a poem dedicated to the roman goddess of the sewers, Cloacina:

Probably Lord Byron Wrote:O Cloacina, Goddess of this place,
Look on thy suppliants with a smiling face.
Soft, yet cohesive let their offerings flow,
Not rashly swift nor insolently slow.
