you are a RIGHTEOUS ROOMIE. you're chillin. in your ROOM. things are pretty good! no problems here.

This week's been great! You spent it eating takeout and messing with your GUITARS. It's what you do every week, but that's never bothered you before. It's been a good night. What day of the week is it again?

Oh right, it's the day where you're expecting a PACKAGE! That's definitely something that's happening now that wasn't happening last week.

It's a featureless little black rectangle, just like any other DEVICE.. You're not good at computers, so you just use it for internet and movies.

You take a moment to check your page on MINIMIX, an app you use for posting some of your RECORDINGS.

oh yeah, you're still doin' numbers

Clean... Your ROOM?

but it's perfect, everything's already right where you need it

And besides, you can't remember the last time a guy delivered you a package. It's all done by DRONES now.

at least they'll come straight to your WINDOW, which is very convenient

Yep! WINDOW's totally shut. Blinds down and everything. No way you'll catch the DRONE when it arrives!

wait

Pie... Octagon? Oh yeah that's what you named your latest MINIMIX SUBMISSION. Technically.

you were thinking about squares the other day, and about how an octagon is like twice as much as a square with double the sides and shit

but an octagon also kinda looks more like a circle than a square ever would, which messed with your worldview

then you started thinking about circles, pie somehow got involved and you began deliberating how acceptably square a pie could be, which had you arrive back at the octagon

the song you uploaded wasn't related to any of this

That's your ACOUSTIC GUITAR. It's a fine instrument. You pluck the strings and they make noise. It's quite a weird thing, isn't it? It's even got real wood in it! It's pretty cool, and you still take it down and play with it every once in a while.

However, most of your time is spent with your ELECTRIC GUITAR.

(02-24-2024, 09:12 PM)Latere Wrote: »> Examine yon Rad Buster Synth

This thing is really, really special. It goes by a few different names, but its official name was the ABLESOUND TONDEKER MODULAR GUITAR. It's not really a guitar, being more like a synth that's shaped like one. But it can be played like a regular GUITAR and also does all sorts of weird stuff a regular GUITAR would never do! Sure, it's a bit chunky and looks nothing like a real instrument, but it's the best thing ever and you jam with it every day!

It sucks that the COMPANY that made this thing went out of business. You don't know why. Maybe no one wanted to give this thing a chance. It does look kinda freaky, you guess. But come on! It uses HARD-LIGHT for its strings!

It has MODULES that you can plug into it to make it do all kinds of stuff.

The HARD-LIGHT STRINGS themselves are a module. You've also got the SYNTHESIZER MODULE. There are smaller CHIPS that you can plug directly into the circuit board as well that also improve how things work. You've got a live AUTO TUNER that will let you lock yourself to a certain key, as well as an AMP AUGMENT chip that allows the HARD-LIGHT STRINGS MODULE to project sound as though you had a physical amp and speakers.

You've got two empty CHIP SLOTS on the board, and one empty EXPANSION SLOT on the bottom of the guitar. You use it to hold snacks.

That bottom EXPANSION SLOT is the reason why you're expecting a PACKAGE today. There aren't too many of these weird instruments out there, and they've become somewhat of a collectors' item. You like using yours, and have been on the hunt to get as many different MODULEs as you can in order to make yours the best it can possibly be.

You found a listing on the internet for a BRAINWAVE INTERFACE MODULE. You don't know much about it, but it fits in the slot, so you had to get it. You got in a bidding war with another guy, but you were able to snipe him out at the last second.

The guys who made this thing didn't invent the tech, but they were the ones who thought it could be used to make music. You don't know the reason why it fell through. Could be that it's just easier to use AI to make stuff nowadays. You download a bot onto your phone and tell it how you want stuff to sound. Not much love remains for the process.

These past few years have been weird.

What? Why would it say that? Your esteemed BAND SHIRT clearly bears the finery of the acoustic ensemble STATUARY FEBRUARY. It's a group of three dudes and their dog. They do shoegaze. The dog howls.

FLESH POCKET was what you called one of your own bands back in college. You remember your old ROOMMATE complaining about never having any POCKETS despite always choosing to roll with a SKIRT, and that got your brain thinking about potential storage solutions. Kangaroos. You were thinking about kangaroo pouches.

regardless, you kinda grossed her out a bit with your radical and revolutionary ideas. at least FLESH POCKET seemed like a pretty good band name at the time, so you stuck with it

you think she ended up using a MOOD RING or something.

nah man, there may be a lot of different ways to carry stuff, but you keep it easy. you've just got the compartment in your GUITAR. and your two POCKETS. and also your two HANDS, you suppose. you don't have anything in there, other than your EXCEPTIONALLY WELL-READ PHONE.

your guitar doesn't take up any space itself because it can magnetize to your belt! don't even need a strap

You open the WINDOW. You don't want to miss the DRONE. In the meantime, you could play something out into the night.

You technically have NEIGHBOURS above, below, and to the left and right of you. However, it's pretty hard to do much from your WINDOW like this.

you live about halfway up in what is a pretty tall building

if a regular person delivered your packages, you'd be seeing a lot less packages
