Korin>Go buy the map for Zha

You decide to go and buy a map for Zha. He's your biggest tipper, right? It's only fair to do something nice for him. Then maybe he'll swing by your shop again and order more tea.

You turn to Sang to tell her about your decision to get a map for Zha.

...only to find yourself promptly ignored.
Quote:Zha
Yeeeeaah, she's going to be here for a while. Well, at least I'm doing my job. We'll wait here for you.
You say goodbye and head out back into the stalls. You take a look around to make sure you can find the map seller guy.

...waitaminute he's right at the next stall?! You look back at Zha, who sheepishly gives you the thumbs up. Lazy idiot.

You approach the stand. The map seller, who clearly looks bored, suddenly sees you, and immediately launches into a rather hasty sales pitch.

Ah! Come here good sir! I see you are eying my maps. You are a smart man, for my maps are the most comprehensive to be found anywhere! You want a map to the popular Ember Island Resort? Or how about a map to this very grand city of Ba Sing Se? Oh! Maybe you're in the mood for a treasure hunt. I've got a map that leads to a hidden cave near The Serpent's Path, where a pirate was said to bury his loot there when fleeing his Fire Nation pursuers. I even have a tourist's guide to the grand Northern Water Tribe Palace, a great, and chilly, if I must say, landmark for any earnest adventurer to visit! And, I've got a few, ahem, special maps as well...so, what'll it be, good sir, what'll it be?

Before even considering the Serpent's Path map ask how many of those he's already sold.

Korin>Inquire about the Serpent's Path treasure map

You ask the map seller about if he's actually sold that map, considering he's loudly advertising a map to a supposedly hidden and secret treasure.

Quote:Map Seller
Eh, I've sold a few here and there. I can assure you that it's quite genuine. Getting there is the easy part. The hard part is actually dealing with the damn serpent that lives there, so not many people actually attempt it. People mostly buy it to show off to their friends.

Korin>Inquire about secret maps

The map seller shifts his eyes for a few seconds before he leans in, beckoning you in closer. He then speaks in a hushed tone.

Quote:Map Seller
Ya see, I've got some maps to several special places. One of those places is actually right here, in this very city! Or rather, under the city... See, long ago, they say that the emperors of Ba Sing Se are buried, but not in any regular ol' plots. No, they're buried in a tomb of great crystals and gems, a place of utmost wonder, befitting a king. And, it's right under our feet at this very moment! Some even say that the Avatar himself went there to fight a grand battle with the Dai Li. I don't know how true that is, but this map that I acquired (don't ask how) is, to my knowledge, very very accurate. All that needs to be done is to find the darn place.

Korin>Inquire about the prices

Quote:Map Seller
Ah, so you are looking to buy! Well, look no further than these amazing prices!

Quote:Map Seller
Hmm, I noticed you're not carrying a bag or something with you. I would recommend only getting two maps right now, ya know, to avoid crumpling or tearing or crushing of the maps. They are rather delicate things.

So, what would you like to buy?

Well, it's Zha who needs it really, not us, and he just sent us to do some fetch quest of sorts, and yeah, we're just going to buy the basic.

You should ask the heavy tipper if he'd be interested in helping you buy that 'special' map. Split the cost and such.

I get the impression we'd regret passing it up. At the same time it's more than we can safely afford

Otherwise, ask if the mapmaker will be around again any time soon on the off chance you have enough money to burn in the future.

I predict that our adventure will shape over what maps we get (i.e. we won't need the water map tribe map unless we buy it), so we shouldn't worry about saving money here. I recommend we get the first one and the one of the Crystal Catacombs. After all, we will get compensated for that one. Perhaps after we give the city map to our friend, we can go back and get another map, or go get our bag.
Re: Legend of the Tea Master (Chapter 1 - The Festival)
Originally posted on MSPA by Wessolf27.

If that's the case, then screw that because why the heck do we need to go to the Crystal Catacombs for now? What's it gotta do with the teahouse business? I'm not sure if it's going to lead to some secret tea recipe handed down by generations of tea masters working for the Earth Kings of yore... unless that is exactly what we find because of some twist of fate that I'm describing right now.

Korin>Ask if he will be open tomorrow

The map seller promptly responds to your question.

Quote:Map Seller
Yeah, I'll be open. I won't actually be here, since this stand is just for the festival. I'm situated in a small building by the noodle shop near the station. If you're interested in more maps, then come back and hit up my shop.

Korin>Purchase the map for 40 coins

<div style="text-align: center;">[Image: ig4QS.gif]
You wave goodbye, and then rush back to Zha's Wood Carving stand. As you approach, you see Sang jump around in glee, clutching a discount to Dragon Dumplings. You also slyly notice a large, large pile of failed carvings on the counter. You approach Zha, who sees you in joy.

Quote:Zha
Thanks! This'll help me not get lost. I can now find a nice place to get some inspiration for my screenplay.
Korin>Tell Zha about the Crystal Catacombs map

You quickly explain to Zha about the secret map you saw to the Crystal Catacombs and ask if he would be willing to chip in. It'd be interesting to own such a map, you explain to him.

Quote:Zha
Hmm, a secret map to a hidden cave of wondrous sights seen by the Avatar himself? Count me in! Tomorrow should be good, as, well, I'm not really doing anything. I'll stop by your tea shop, and we'll go, yeah?
You agree. Sang comes up to you after relishing in her inevitable victory over wooden blocks.
Quote:Sang
Hey, Korin. We should head back to the shop now. I think dad's waiting for us to start the demonstration. You ready?
You nod your head. The festival, so far, has been great. But now, it's time for you to return and prepare the true show of the evening. (Well, not really, but, hey!, it's your thing) You wave goodbye to Zha, who promises to stop by Sang's father's shop to see the demonstration.

As you and Sang run off back down the alley, you begin some last minute preparations in your mind. Most importantly, you're thinking about the best way to present this. You have the tea and the technique, and the sweets to go with it. Now you just need to think of something to wow the guests...

Ask her about any other skill you wouldn't know so far?
note that many you'll need to confront her about her temper issues one day... wich will lead to an explosive argument almost certainly.
