[Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase [Applications now Open again!]
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Chroma, realizing she wasn't particularly good at hacking or talking with artificial intelligences, is going to throw her Autodoc drone at the droid.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
The autodoc drone clanked against the droid as it arose from its seat and promptly began trying to perform surgery on the droid.

The droid objected to this sternly.

There was now a robot fight in the cockpit.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"OI! Stop beaking up the autodoc!" Jones yelled, rushing into the cockpit.

He slammed the barrel of his shotgun into the defective droid, point blank with the angle of fire pointed away from the cockpit's sensitive systems and the autodoc, and fired. Didn't want collateral damage. Jones was surgical in his shotgunnery.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Jones blew off half the droid's head without hitting the controls of the cockpit!

One half of the windowscreen was cracked by a stray pellet however, they'd have to close the bulkhead over it when in space.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Jones was fine flying blind so long as he had an intact console.

Which he did.

Besides, the viewscreen had been cracked by a single shotgun pellet. He felt a little safer with a bulkhead over that son of a bitch.

"Ey, somebody get this droid carcass out of here. I'm going to fly us out of this mess," Jones said, getting into the pilot's chair, closing the bulkhead over the cracked glass, and starting up the ship.

He was going to fly them off-world as quick as possible, flying evasively to avoid getting blown to hell.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Wilnarr headed to the cockpit with his rifle in hand, after presumably closing the ramp. "I heard a shot! What's going on up here?"
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"We went up here to check the cockpit, droid saw us, droid freaked out, Chroma sent her drone at it, the droid started beating up the drone, I shot the droid, now I'm flying us out," Jones summarized cheerfully.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Lucy was sweeping the rest of the ship. She paused at the sound of a gunshot...Okay, just the one, probably fine, and continued. She was also partly looking for escape pods... just in case Jones was just a crazy maniac with delusions of grandeur.
"Don't get me started on Henchmen."
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
There was no escape pod, there was, however an emergency release... which separated the cockpit from the rest of the ship.

Leaving the cockpit section with no means of propulsion. And the part with the engine no means of interacting or controlling it. Neither had a distress beacon. to top it all off the release hatch was position in such a way, that whoever released it would be exposed to the vacuum of space.

Who designs ships like this!?
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
If the guy who owned this ship was the one who'd designed it, Lucy felt less bad about stealing it from him. Fuck this guy!

Maybe the cockpit was the escape pod...That needed someone to die in order to use it. Sheesh. That made the most sense to Lucy, in a still-insane-assholish way. She walked into the cockpit. "Alright, no one pull that red release switch unless you want to die in space and-." She looked at the droid. And the sealed bulkhead. And about. "...Uurgh!" She said with clear sudden disgust at the situation, and she started taking the ruined robot out of the cockpit. Maybe she could salvage the poor thing.
"Don't get me started on Henchmen."

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Apart from the head wound, the robot still had a mostly functional, if badly maintained body, The head unit may be salvageable but the CPU and processors were likely a complete ruin, if there was any data on the droid, it was irretrievable now.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Jones was still doing his best to pilot them the hell out of there.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Wilnarr crossed his arms and looked out the (bulkheaded) viewscreen, getting a great view of slightly oil-stained metal. "Alright, pilot, where're we headed? I need to brush up on the local life if we're gonna get anything useful." He blinked, looking away from the bulkhead, and seemed to notice Jones. "Ah- sorry, I must have missed your name amidst all the shooting. What was it, again?"

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"Francesco Indra Sunset Titan Orion Jones! Everybody calls me Shotgun!" Jones yelled as he flew them up. "You all might want to strap in, case this trip goes sideways! Haha!"
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Jones booted up the system and the entire ship shook as the engines came to life, feeding the hydrogen-antihydrogen grav drives until they could self sustain themselves and push them up off the ground. Eventually the shaking stopped and the system readouts told Jones what was going on around him... in cheap, line drawn, lime green on black 3D graphics with weapons fire depicted in red. No one was firing at them and the computer calculated a trajectory out of the atmosphere, accounting for the falling debris coming down from whatever was eclipsing the sun.

As he hit the throttle, indeed the very second, the bolts holding in the other seat on the bridge's cockpit broke loose sending the chair flying backwards with a great deal of force, which was unfortunate for whoever happened to have been sitting on it, or standing behind it at the time. The car int he cargo bay lurched upward and would have slammed back into the cargo bay door had it not hit the roof first, sending everyone, and everything, not securely fastened, flying across the bulkheads and landing in many painful piles.

Evidently the anti grav systems took a while to work their way around to inducing artificial gravity on the ship proper which would have prevented such whiplash, it was not quite clear if this meant the inertial dampeners would hold out when they entered and exited warp.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"THIS SHIP IS A REAL PILE OF SHIT!" laughed Jones as the ride ran him ragged. "I LOVE IT! HAHA!"

His teeth were gritted, his gut felt like it was hitting the roof, his hair was sticking straight up, and he looked like the happiest man in the galaxy.

Chroma wears her seatbelt and puts a seatbelt on the remains of the autodoc.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Chroma was now securely seatbelted to the chair that had been disconnected from the ground. The autodoc was seatbelted to its side.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"You. Me," Chroma says quietly to her autodoc, with no change in tone. "We shall be comrades in the face of uncertain death."
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"That's the spirit!" Jones yelled to Chroma.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
The ship speeded away warning klaxons sounded as it started breaking through the atmosphere as the planet's radiation belt approached. The radiation shielding was probably up to date.

Probably.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Chroma, vaguely indifferent about her dire situation, takes out a pair of sunglasses and puts them on.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"HEY KIDS! BIT OF A TAN COMING UP, MAYBE! EITHER THIS OR THE DEATHBOTS, SO HOLD ONTO YOUR BUTTS!" shouted Shotgun Jones, performing every check he could to lessen the strain on the ship.

Because shit was about to get bumpy.

Bumpier.

Maybe with fire.
Quote
RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
There was already fire on the lower decks. Strangely enough in the privies.

This raised many questions but none of them immediately dangerous to the safety of the ship. They broke atmosphere and hit the radiation belt.

None of them felt anything, the radiation shields held.

RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
Chroma unbuckles and goes finds a fire extinguisher because while she is indifferent to hellishly high temperatures, other people might and that would be really annoying in the future.
