yeah lynching slorange/schazer seems like a terrible idea because it is currently not advantageous for all the details about their mechanical link to be known because if its cross lovers scum already knows what it is which has Some Implications but at any rate, we can deal with it later

whats definitely like, concerning to me is that the soul sucking kill that killed pharms is like, uh, still unaccounted for? its, weird when many other things have been explained and its definitely possible at this point that legendary q was the only third party!!!

Part of me does but I don't know if I'm going to be able to come up with any more useful thoughts without responses from some of the less active players.

I'm okay lynching beru for today and Niall if they flip town. If beru is scum we should hit Laser, then seedy, then start looking at Pilot and Slorange/Schazer and then loop back to Niall and x. I really don't think anyone I haven't mentioned could be scum but if the game isn't over at that point lynch Lordly and revenge kill Granola?

Yeah, I'd rather not end the day without waiting to hear from the several people who haven't even checked in yet first, especially RL and Beruru.

I'm also kinda hesitant to believe that this game could be as simple as 'lurker lynch to win', but if all of my current townreads are accurate, then I'm not seeing many other likely possibilities. Would a scumteam that was entirely some combination of Beru/RL/Niall/X/Seedy/Pala even bother effort posting from here on? Like what would be the point?

I don't like how you keep insisting that it's either myself or beruru that are scum, one or the other. It's like you know we're both good and you're trying to dictate the next two days worth of lynches by making it a binary choice. "If one's good we lynch the other." This is beginning to feel like a set-up. I'm not changing my vote just yet but if I like what Beruru says you're now a strong contender for my vote.

I wanna demand answers, but I think you're good because Airey voted for you on two separate days so I don't feel like me demanding answers is gonna yield any sort of positive result here. It's either gonna make you look bad or make me look bad and that's bad for the town. Kinda frustrating but I have to just nod my head and say "Solaris thinks I'm bad. Dammit."

the scumteam has someone paying close attention because sai's busdriver claim was a bit aroundabout so thats beru or palamedes

this game could actually be much lower power with q having an unreasonable kit comparatively to make up for being an anti-town role, protective roles are busdriver and child, killing role split across various things, probably a watcher or maybe scientist for town and either a slew of one shots or no actually like, persistent/visible/provable roles for scum?

i think that pharms was supposed to track for the busdriver and the town information role, and that reyweld is probably a miller and its just incidental that the role could also confuse scum

Yeah, I'm still working through what possible scum powers could be in play at this point.

I still suspect/worry that there could be one more scum around than we think, and that the night 1 “soul sucking” kill was an amnesiac who's taken over for that dead scum. I just remember when I played on scum teams that “work with what you know” was a rule for lies/gambits, and knowing that an amnesiac effect role exists feels likely to fuel Airey's claim on it. Again, I could easily be totally wrong here, but it does lead me to not want to “waste” any lynches. At the very least, I want to ask Beru a bunch of questions and get some answers before that happens. But I'll come back to that.

Scum seemed very quick on the draw to kill Sai after a vague mention of having two targets at night. (and it had to have been a direct target, since bus driving would have had no effect on Sai) So quick they chose to eliminate that as a threat faster than they were willing to go for any of the semi-townfirms. That suggests to me that the scum faction may have a bus driver of their own. Though I'm not sure how much this would actually change things town going forward.

But what else do we have to worry about? I would STRONGLY suspect they have a godfather... or at least I would if there was any evidence that this setup had a cop in it. A roleblocker would also make sense, though that's also questionable since no one has commented yet on a blocked night action. Maybe they have a watcher in addition to a tracker? But that combo is more likely to break a game for town, rather than for scum. (a mistake I made once in creating a small IRC game) But it seems likely that with the 4 non-scum killing roles we've seen out there, whatever powers scum have left are going to be strong. I mean heck, they may have considered Airey a completely acceptable loss day 3 once they knew the bulletproof was gone.

Part of me assumes that such speculation is unproductive, but it's where my mind has been going with regard to this game lately. Moving on.

@Granolaman – Sai claimed to be super convinced you were scum. Like, willing to be lynched if you'd be lynched the next day convinced. And this was AFTER you killed Airey. As stated before, I believe that Sai was wrong about this, but for the record, can you explain why Sai was wrong with the assumption that “as scum you had to kill airey”?

WRT Slorange and Schazer, a small part of me wants to pressure or lynch one of them to see what angle they're really playing at, but I acknowledge that this is a bear that we can put off poking at for at least one more day. That said, schazer has participated relatively little, and with plenty that I didn't like among it. And sleeping orange has made a lot of posts that rubbed me exactly the wrong way. Despite all of that, if you two aren't going to be focused on today, I'd still like some more participation and thoughts from the both of you. If you've got questions for any of the rest of us (whose answers wouldn't be terrible for scum to hear) please ask away. Do you think Beru is scum, or just the most likely lynch for being relatively quiet without much of an excuse? Do you think that any of the remaining scum could have been actively bussing Airey to make themselves look better for day 4 and beyond? Do you suspect that the scum team is down to 2, or do you think the game state is something else entirely?

Also, as a general rule, I do object to ending the day early. If our target is town, every thought they get out is more evidence that can help the rest of us. If the target is scum, then of course waiting is less helpful, but we can sometimes glean something from what they say before they die. With a day left, and PARTICULARLY with a thus-far silent lynch target, I'd rather not shorten it.

Though it's a bit awkward what with Beru, the current soft-lynch among those who have not even posted once yet on day 4, with like 28 hours left. HOPEFULLY that will change soon.

2) What do you believe is the current state of the game, with regard to scum and possible 3rd party players? Are there any possible anti-town powers that you are particularly worried about?

3) Who are your top scum and town reads? Has any interaction in particular make you think that anyone in particular was coaligned with or winking at Airey?

4) Are there any players you'd really like to know more about, either mechanically or based on reads? Do you have any questions for them?

5) Who from the airey lynch train/vig kill (tehpilot, coldblooded, granolaman, jacquerel, robust laser, niall, lordlyhour, solaris) is your strongest suspect for being scum? Why?

This is why I hate lurker lynches. Nobody wants to end the day early but the beru wagon gained momentum so early and with zero opposition from the slot that nobody else feels any pressure to do anything today! Slorange and RL haven't bothered to show up at all today and Schazer's literally only posted a Reigen at daystart. We're just sitting here twiddling our thumbs waiting for an empty player slot to post.

The vouching is nice and all but you clearly weren't a mason to begin with. There's a perfectly decent chance that a masonizer hit two scum and they're just using it as an alibi. Schazer's entering their smugzer phase so I'm perfectly happy pushing this lynch until it inevitably kills me.

Mirdini: replace the beru/jwatch slot already so we can actually play this game.

Yeah this day has been, uneventful, though I haven't helped much with that.
To be honest I too would be pretty happy for Schazer to die at this point, on like day...two? Seedy said that Schazer was acting in a way that we wouldn't let anyone get away with if it wasn't Schazer and that's like, not stopped since then.
Schazer has a "mechanical confirmation" of being town from another lurker (who is playing slightly better) but if it's true, is completely wasting it by just literally not playing the game at all for four days in a row, their only other mechanical claim is also one which doesn't at all match with their play. It's bad all round.

If we want to pressure someone into actually doing things I want it to be Schazer and if the pressure doesn't work and they just die, no big loss. We've done well so far, we can afford to lose a player who can't be bothered to help their team win anyway.

Forgive my vanishing over the majority of the weekend --

I'd consider a Schazer/Slorange lynch on this day to be an information lynch more than a scum-hunting lynch personally. If we do not feel strongly about other options I would consider it. Solaris's proposed target pool in #867 is closer to who I would want publicly discussed today before taking that option.

I said this earlier today but I'm starting to think I would value a Schazer lynch more. Considering their post history in the last two game days amounts to "kill me please", voting on Airey and not committing to anything else afterwards, and then an acknowledgement of the game at the start of today followed by... nothing - yeah I can be comfortable with it.

Contrast that with the Slorange/Schazer situation where they are somewhat present but not driving anything forward due in part to what looks like riding out a tenuous mechanical confirmation claim. Jac's thoughts in #892 definitely resonated with me after I went back and looked at Schazer's content.

Also note: Beru not being around and the resulting stall on activity makes the lynch on them feel especially nonproductive to me.

On the whole I'm good with both lynches but I'd really like to make this one a likelihood in the hopes we can get something more out of it. It's become a "kick the can down the road" endeavor and if it doesn't come to fruition today I really want to start D5 hard on the Schazer/Slorange duo and depending on how those answers turn up, look again at the pool of Niall / Pala / x1372 / Seedy (maybe)? We have a lot of soft townfirms already and I'm wondering if we can start process of elimination for scum in earnest after the above is handled.

Yo Niall I don't know where you're getting that I 'keep' saying either you or beru has to be scum. The post you quoted I was saying that I thought we were lynching one of the two of you today. If you want to get pedantic though, there are 14 players left alive, almost half of whom can entirely or almost entirely be removed from the scum pool (me, Coldblooded, Jac, Solaris, Granola, feel free to insert yourself instead of me for your own version of this). Slorange and Schazer are vouching for each other and can be dealt with later (probably are not both scum). TehPilot and x look decent enough (former for Airey albeit not much else, latter for play), leaving 5 players left as suspicious with probably three or four scum left and likely in there - and you really don't look like you're scum with beru unless some pretty bold bussing is going on. I don't think it's a crazy reach to say it looks like a fairly plausible situation!

Also, you know (again), I haven't really pushed that like you seem to be saying. I've made very few posts at all today actually.

Hm. I've gone on record as saying I'd be fine lynching one of Slorange/Schazer, I think there's as good a chance that one of them is scum as that they are both town. Strongly disagree that both are scum as at this point if there was a masonizer role that linked them they'd probably say something and scum wouldn't pick another scum and waste a power right off the bat like that (this is assuming it is a mason making power or something similar). I'd still rather lynch beru at this point because it'll give me a better read on Niall and potentially Pilot though. Also, slightly lesser qualm but I'd almost rather go for Slorange instead of Schaz because (unless I'm misremembering) Slorange was the one who initially brought up the whole clearing thing which makes me think they are more likely the one behind it.

No, I don't know what the item does. I just thought it sounded cool. It was a tie between that and some research papers.

Where is the Siren and more importantly where is the Siren's kill because if they're an SK uhhhhhh where is the kill?? I think Solaris claiming vig one-shot or something is ~weird wrt Siren related things, in the vein of "if we believe that the mafia shot Jac and that Solaris shot Airey then who was phone"

i think that it's very likely that we're going to win just by how many mechanical clears there are. wolves can't shoot all of them in time, imo.

I don't remember my town reads off the top of my head. I haven't paid attention I remember really disliking Pilot's reaction to NTA's last post, though. I understand that this meta hasn't been introduced to the concept of self-pres, but.... NTA was clearly a villager upset that town decided to follow the path of least resistance.

I haven't actually thought this much about the game yet. I think we're going to win through sheer amount of clears, so I'm not thinking too hard... lazy bear zone.
