Remah stands impassive, eyes wide as he stares at his blood on the cavern floor. It twists and churns, black as tar as it creeps towards his boots.

"No." He whispers. "I am fooled. Blind, so cold without my flame... This a fate I deserve."

(04-20-2015, 01:01 AM)ICantGiveCredit Wrote: »Watson gasps at the LATEST NEW FLESH WOUND to appear on his chest! He's had worse but the mere surprise of it is appalling. Watson hopes to treat Remah with a drubbing for which it will be worth ruing ruining Watson's suit! Further! Again! The fabric is completely decrepit at this point, there's no use worrying about it, blood-boiling hells alive, but it needs to be in a condition he should be wont to repair it!

But what's more appalling, his newest injury or THE ENSORCELLED ABOMINATION STILL UP AND ABOUT!? Watson cannot stand for this any longer and neither should it. After leaving his mouth agape for a few seconds at its magical-decaying-corpse-face, he sees to chopping its head off. It seemed quite easy, too, the calcified collarbone crumbling at the touch of his Champion Blade, a true proponent for de-necroficational justice. Watson has yet to see if it withstood such a sword-to-head impact but if it it didn't, he will be satisfied.

He will give due attention to the gloaming sword and armor when this threat is duly eliminated.

You raise your blade to strike, only to find that as you do, the empty armor springs to life, ripping the thorn greatsword from the stone floor in the same motion with which it parries your blow. The armor stands up, taking a battle stance as it silently levels the sword at you.

As you are distracted by the massive dreadplate armor before you, you do not notice when a dark shape forms before the leftmost chair, yanking the dagger from its resting place before turning to fling it at you, the dagger burrowing itself in your shoulder to inflict 210 damage! As you discover, the dagger does not merely wound, but also causes a black rot to spread up your shoulder and down your arm, the wound itself burning feverishedly.

Savannah grunts as the impact reverberates through her arms and the warm, crimson evidence of her savage attack splatters her hands. He had to be getting weak. Two attacks like her's, plus the help from the others must have worn him down. He was probably on his last legs. One more good hit would do him in, right?

Savannah lets out a puff of exertion, yanking the sword into the air and cleaving at Remah again, the sword bursting into flame once more.

While he stands stunned, you bring your blade to bear upon him, crashing down to cleave to the bone of his left shoulder, sending him to his knees from the weight of your blow, his spear clattering to the ground beside him as you deal 632 damage, and an additional 218 burn. (roll 18+11)

His technique is of two significant advantages; it leaves Remiah's vision distracted by a bright pink blur phazing around his timey-wimey vision and gives the leaping lord perfect positioning for the secret strike Bohw was preparing.

Once the opportunity presented itself, he'd leap from wall to cieling and strike directly above Remiah and make a blow to tilt his gaze skyward. The perfect ruse for his companion to sneak a few arrows in...

You leap from on high to strike Remah from above. He not as much as glances at you until your blow takes him once again full in the back for 140 damage (roll 2+6), sending him careening forwards, drawing blood as his hands scrape against the cavern floor.

You form soldiers from ink (roll 16+6) to stand guard, but something about them seems... hollow. (hit 1)

(04-20-2015, 09:30 AM)BlazerC Wrote: »Bohw gritted her teeth in response to the stranger's words, watching Thunderpaw move around the room but not quite ready to strike. "Not more of this bull..." She muttered under her breath as she adjusted her aim.

"Then we are not your damn enemy!" She shouted, taking note of Thunderpaw's positioning. It was much easier to predict where the Bunni was going, even with his absurd speed and jumping, it was nothing on the strange havoc Remah was playing on her eye, depth perception was something she sorely missed. But her speed was still there, the instant she figured where the man was going to be, she adjusted her aim towards his legs and let loose, a non-lethal blow that would still put him down with any hope.

Mayor however was still lost in that rage that had grabbed hold of him. The redness in his eyes was nicely accompanied with the paint that was splashed upon him, but he didn't take a moment's pause to even register the effect on him. He just used the new found strength to lash out at Remah and with any hope: grabbing him in a tight hold to stop the squirming bastard from moving anywhere.

While he is down, Bohw shoots Remah in the legs for 336 and 252 damage, pinning him against the bloodied ground. Mayor bowls him over, locking him in a grapple he'll not escape.

"Whatever comes next..." He rasps, powerless. "Mother, father... Please forgive me. I have failed at last."

Within the cave, the demonic corpse clenches its fist, and as it does, every pinch of black blood spilled by Remah comes trailing back to him, the dark festering stuff seeping back in through wounds, skin and mouth. Where the black blood passes, dark growths sprout, leaving him changed even as he lies defeated and dying.

Watson's half-closed eyes leer at the gloomy figures in ire. Not this again. It's as if he has to trifle with the shadows on a regular basis now! Oh, the responsibilities of heroism...

For now the lone nobleman thinks he's going to step back a bit and have a cup of tea. And by step back he means Run, and magically leap back to where the others are and alert them of the corrupted weaponry floating about on their own, just beyond those twisting shadows over there.

"Can someone please assist me in the dispatching of malevolent pieces of regalia? It has been a terrible inconvenience for me, why I dare say, there is some manner of malignant fire eating away at my-"

he looks with sullen eyes at the ground and finds an unstable pile of Remah's blood pooling at their feet trying to eat them. Or raise Remah's body from the dead. Watson can't tell which and honestly does not know why he walks into these things. He instead tries to purify his wound by pouring some of his enchanted water onto it. Watson's hand glows red-hot, speedily and liberally applying 2 cups of the Vase's liquid. It should at least patch him up some if he is not purged.

Relief and anxiety were two turbulent forces fighting for dominance among Myra's emotions right now as she watched the years flash by her until she was standing before her comrades once more. The time rift had finally dissipated, and the field of time energy holding her captive fell apart as if it fell prey to its own corrosive nature. Myra was now free from her encasement.

As she knew all too well, she had no time to waste, and a debt to pay. Myra quickly took up the pale crystal and the food-making device, stowing the latter away for later use. She rushed into the room with the others, and didn't even stop upon seeing black blood return to the recently-slain man, gasping, "Remah's down!" in the shock of it all. Right now, that was all she understood of the state of things in this time, and that was all that mattered.

While the old hero is still lying down, Myra casts a healing spell on Savannah and Bohw as she makes a dash for the soon-to-be corpse. Riding on a Galeforce, Myra makes use of her Wraith's Jewel to thrust the pale crystal into Remah's heart through magical means. While she wasn't sure if this would work with something starting to take over the dying man, there was certainly no time to stop and think.

Reaaaaaally hope I'm doing this right lol

(EDIT: please just assume this happens before Frolic's post there sorry, not re-writing this, way too tired hahaha)

Mayor's rampage was finally put to a stop when he saw Remah's blood return to his wounded form, creating something new entirely. He was shocked as his senses returned to him, incredibly concerned about the health of his broken friend.

Bohw was just as concerned, stepping back as she observed the change take place, that was a new one. It implied corruption, but there was something different about it, the form almost looked... unstable. "No, don't hit him, we might kill him." Bohw responded to Thunderpaw, "That shadow is on it's last legs, just let it die on it's own."

Heading to leave the room, she shouted a command "Out the room, out the room! Mayor, stay here for Myra and keep spear dude occupied! Don't hurt him! Rest of you, there's more enemies behind us!" Bohw ordered, oddly taking Watson's words at face value, although the wound in his shoulder was more trustworthy than his words ever would be. "Now where's these monsters?" She asked, loading another arrow as she looked for something else to shoot.

Savannah takes a step back, the fire leaving her greatsword, as Remah collapses onto the ground. She snorts, then jolts in surprise as she feels something... pulling out of her. She glances down, surprised to see that Remah's blood, which had splattered her front, soaked her blade, and stained her skin, was squelching out of her, returning to the body from whence it came. Her face contorts in disgust, and she turns to her companions to whinge. Only to find that only Myra was there, fiddling with the corpse. The fuck? Savannah frowns, glancing at the spear on the floor that Remah was using. Didn't want him to have that, now did they?

"Ey uh... good luck with that, Myra." Savannah scuttles out of the room, kicking the spear after her. Once out and with the rest of her buddies, she drops the greatsword and picks up the spear. As the greatsword hits the ground, it sends out a pulse, passing through Thunderpaw and Watson. Another beat emerges a few seconds later, this one having an actual effect. Growths begin to sprout from the walls, floor, and ceiling. Vines hang from the walls as fungi of all sort take root in musty, dark corners. A tree pushes its way through the ground, cracking it, and stands tall and proud once it's done. Cheeky bastard.

"...Huh?" Savannah glances up, looking at all the new foliage. She still didn't feel any magic... "Did I do that?"

You retreat to your comrades, leaping away to relative safety where you drink up, restoring 600 health to yourself! Meanwhile, a streak of shadow flashes past you, followed by an intense pain as something rips the dagger from your shoulder and slashes it down your back for 380 damage!

The empty suit of armor charges after you, moving into a spinning sweep with its blade that glances you for 240 damage.

Contrary to Bohw's conclusion, the thing that was once Remah seems to be growing more powerful by the second! He had been beaten and lifeless just a moment before, but now he powers through Mayor's attempts to keep him pinned, leaping to his feet in good time to send Renzo's ink soldier barreling into Mayor with a spiked backhand, dealing 220 damage to the both of them. Remah may not have been entirely stable before, but his eyes betray that any pretense at humanity is gone from the thing he has become.

Meanwhile, Bohw shoots the shadow that appeared behind Watson, her arrow catching it in the back for 266 damage (roll 8+5+6).

Renzo heals Savannah and Bohw for 424 health each (roll 17+6).

You launch yourself at the shadow and the armor with meteoric force, crashing into the two of them for 210 damage while they are distracted by Watson! (Roll 2+6, crit)

You recognize the dagger wielded by the shadow figure. It killed two of your friends.

Then you hear the screeching of metal against stone as a now-familiar creature emerges from the way you came, legs once again attached to her torso. Corvid leaves a trail of blue fluid in her wake as her charred and crushed body stubbornly staggers on, one leg bent at an unnatural angle.

"TzZkkZet DeZzktte: EntZty 'ThunderpkZzZt"

Then follows the rapid-fire energy barrage, apparently none the worse for the wear despite the sorry state Corvid is in. You are afflicted with searing pain as three out of four attacks connect, dealing 100, 380 and 570 damage!

A growing jungle fills the cave as you dash out of the room, crystal in one hand, the horn in the other. With one gesture, you heal Savannah and Bohw for 239 health each. With another, you throw the crystal at Remah as he stands twisted and broken before you. Through your guidance, the jagged crystal chunk strikes Remah in the chest, piercing his corrupted heart and ripping out his back, leaving the lifeless body to fall to the ground. Then several things happen at once.

First, the sound of cracking glass echoes through the cavern. Then something explodes from the surface of the fountain in the center of Remah's room. Then come the unbound souls, pouring in waves from the fountain to drift to the ceiling, stuck there like smoke. The room begins to fill up with the ephemeral things until they start pouring into the cavern outside, growing in number with every second.

Next, the crystal lights up as Remah's soul streaks after the crystal in a ribbon of energy, captured within.

Lastly, Razan stumbles as he is freed. Stunned, he looks around wildly, taking in the impossible scene around him.

"No, no, no no! This is not good. The pieces are here but our failings have caught up to us."

He raises his hands and a brilliant sword of light materializes in his grasp, lighting up the cave as he turns to face the three demons.

For its part, the corpse seems extremely agitated by this development. It points at Razan and a wound erupts across his chest for 460 damage!

"Oh wow," Myra whispered under her breath as practically anything that could happen in this moment was happening. A few key points summed the situation up quite nicely, though: Razan was free, they got what they came here for, and Corvid had caught up to them.

"With Remah gone, the shadow army is going to come out," Myra shouted to her companions as she grasped Aldarei Sagatha in her hand, "Corvid's caught up to us, and we got the thing we needed." She turned to Razan, her eyes squinting from the light he was holding. "It's time to fly the coop, isn't it?"

She glanced around her and found Thunderpaw terribly beaten by that freak stalker, and went about casting a healing spell upon him. Hopefully, it will be enough.

Remah's weapon feels like a feather in comparison to the Greatsword. Savannah easily manages a grip on the weapon, hefting it and getting a feel for it. It was a glaive, and she had gotten better with spears lately... With a dismissive scoff, Savannah tightens her grip on the weapon in her hands and turns to face their attackers. Some washed up suits of armor and a crazy robokiller? Should be easy.

She darts forward, her unnatural strength easily propelling her forward, and lunges for the Corvid, intending to stab her in the gut and then slice outward, cleaving a deep gash into the creature's abdomen.
RE: Black Zenith [Adventure RPG / Chapter Four: Fires of Heaven]
Watson hears Razan's plea and responds adequately, striking the unholy armor plate with a clang, turning into heavier clang as the sword resonates and explodes. Watson had strategically switched his Champion blade for the Starmetal while he was running away akin to someone who has no strategy to speak of.

He could have done more, something else. Maybe not have used up so much of that water? It was stronger than he thought, having seared and cauterized his wounds on contact with his corrupted flesh. Maybe poured a spot of it and then recommenced clobbering them.
RE: Black Zenith [Adventure RPG / Chapter Four: Fires of Heaven]
Hah..... so many things in this room to hate at once. Dagger-wielding corpsemen, stupid manipulative old men, that thing with the energy bursts and an angry temper...

So many things to hit... so little strength left to hit them with...

...so many souls flying about...

...

Thunderpaw was going to regret what he was about to do. Hell, the thought gave him regret as-is. Reaching for his bag, he fetched a familiar locket and the crystal he was keeping the others safe from. This battlefield had gone mad long ago; madness in turn could be the only feasible weapon.

"Kyllik, give me aid! Do what you must to end this threat!"

A last ditch effort, and at great risk. Thunderpaw had seen how this played out before; the Corvid creature and the spirit of Sam'souvra were allies under the same twisted banner. The ploy of borrowing its ally's power and appearance could mess up Corvid's targeting long enough to land a coup'de'grace... assuming he could keep the soulbender under control. A sneaking suspicion felt this wouldn't be so simple however. Not with all the current pawns in place. This was just as likely to backfire as it was to succeed.

Still better than dying though.

Thunderpaw activates Valliant using Samsouvra Daishar. He offers the soul sealed within the locket to fuel any attack needed to take down Corvid Mk II.
