RE: [Rage at the Eclipse] - The First Phase
"This way!" said Wilnarr, running for his car - which was perhaps not the best vehicle for the situation, being as it was a sort of open-topped jeep-analogue. Rather than immediately jumping into the driver's seat, he started fishing around in the back for his rifle. "Those robots aren't what I thought they were at all! We need to get out of here!"

Chroma turns to Shotgun Jones and intoned, “Hopefully your pilot skills can be applied to driving skills.”

The Stymphalian pulls out a gun and starts shooting at the battlebot. She gets into the jeep along with the...lateral-thinking naturalist.

Zigrund and Jones unload on the battlebot as it emerges fully fromt he destroyed van. Chroma took a few pot shots at it with her sidearm, but they did not do enough damage to disable it before it revealed its weapons and unleashed a withering storm of fire on the two people closest to them.

Luckily Jones' armour and Zigrunds apparent bulky toughness spared them an unpleasant end.

Wilnarr retrieved his rifle from the back of his jeep.

Jones rushed around to take cover behind the destroyed car. It'd be a good place to shoot the battlebot from.

He would do so once he was behind cover!

Wilnarr grabbed his rifle! Climbing into the back of his jeep, he stood up to shoot over people's heads without risking friendly fire, and took a shot at the battlebot! "A shootout! Haven't filmed one of those before! Don't really mean to start now! Get in the car, crew, we need to get out of here!!"

Chroma gives the robot a few more dings with her gun before getting into the shitty jeep.

"C'MON, ZIGRUND! Let's move!" Jones shouted, trying to get his friend to follow as they ran to the space jeep.

Lucy dashed over to Wilnarr, preferring not to be up front with the battlebot thanks, scrambling through the boot into the backseats.
"Don't get me started on Henchmen."

They all piled into Wilnarr's airjeep as the battlebot cycled its weapons, ejecting what looked like heat sinks as it readied another barrage. Chroma and Wilnarr took ineffective potshots at the thing as the crew piled onto the open top jeep.

A scared bystander scampered down the side alley, huge burns across their body as a tough and a schlub from the bar burst through the back door, drawing up short when they saw the battlebot.

The battlebot suddenly had some new targets.

Jones took the airjeep into the air as the battlebot unloaded on the poor unfortunates, the bystander fleeing back up the alley was moxed down alongside the tough and the schlub. But they escaped.

Flying up high above the streets they could see plumes of smoke and fires all across the city and more of the battlebots raining down from the sky. The blackness still encompassed the sun casting an untimely night across the starport city.

However there didn't seem to be any flying variations of the robots so they had that going for them, but judging by the withering volleys of fire lacing through the sky and cutting air cars to ribbons sending the normally orderly traffic lanes into unthinking chaos, it was clear they didn't need that much air cover. They would have to fly carefully.

"Is everyone alright? How bad are people's injuries?" said Wilnarr, grabbing onto the frame-bars of the airjeep to avoid toppling over now they were flying. It was obvious that this wasn't the first time he'd been standing in a fast-moving open-topped air vehicle, though the hail of laser fire all around was clearly freaking him out. "Why is this city getting attacked by killer robots?!"

He craned his neck, trying to get a look around and see if his house was in an affected area.

"I am fine. And. I don't know?" Chroma said, peering out of the window. It was chaos and carnage down at the surface. "Frajkt is the most 'boring' planet in this sector. My reason to coming here in the first place."

"Anyone recognize them? I didn't see any symbols or noticeable ornamentation on them." Lucy asked, taking out her handgun and checking it over, seeing it was properly loaded. She'd probably need to have it ready. "Nothing's changed in town recently, or on planet right? I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed if we'd been talking shit about some other territory to the extent that this is justified, and it's not like there's anything special here as Chroma said."
"Don't get me started on Henchmen."

"That was fun! Right, where to?" asked Jones, glancing around for points of interest. "Maybe there's a ship to steal out there, huh?"

Wilnarr spotted the district in which he lived, it was not too far from the Health Bar. It itself did not seem to have any smoke coming from it, but the streets surrounding it evidently had some fighting going on in them.

The starport was in the far distance, the edge of the city. Miles and miles of flat Ferrocrete for the loading, repair and servicing of the many starships that took port. Mostly commercial vessels and smaller private ships. There seemed to be a lot of fighting going on over there.

Chrome glances dismally at the battle boiling at the space harbor. "Any of you have...hum. 'Binoculars.' That is the word, yes?"

"Let me see!" said Wilnarr, putting down his rifle in the open back of the jeep and ducking down to search through the accumulated detritus in the trunk. It seemed like a precarious thing to do while it was in flight, but he had a firm grip on the frame. A few empty plastic bags caught the wind and flew out of the trunk, drifting through the air behind them, but he was able to go through his stuff. "I swear I have a digital magnifier-rangefinder in here somewhere, or at least I thought I did," he said, rummaging. "Maybe some old analog binoculars too. I really need to clean this thing out some day..."

As he was going through his stuff, he thought for a bit then turned back towards where Jones was driving. "Maybe you can rendezvous with a shuttle that's already taking off?" He had to shout, what with the wind flying in all of their faces. "Saves us having to brave that storm at the spaceport, assuming this isn't localized to the city! Though we'll need to stop at mine first. There's plenty there that'll come in handy if we have to get the hell out of here!"

Jones was ready to MOVE!

"Alright then! If nobody has any objections, my place! We can grab some food and camping supplies in case we can't get off-planet and have to hide in the wilderness until this all blows over!" shouted Wilnarr, slamming shut the trunk of his car and climbing forward to the front seat. "Couldn't find any binoculars, so those must be at home. Plus I need my meds. My place is there, that section, the one without all the smoke," he said to Jones, pointing to his home district. "Forget the air lanes, we've got murderbots everywhere! Just land in my backyard or something if you can."

Jones flew to where Wilnarr had pointed out his house, a small detached building which looked fairly out of place for the area it was in. But the murderbots were several streets away and nothing was on fire so it was a good start. Jones landed the airjeep in the backyard, the yellowing grass wilting under the pressure of the vehicle's thrusters.

"Mmm." Lucy stepped out, not entering the house, preferring to keep an eye out on the main street for incoming trouble. "I'll make sure we get a heads-up if a warbot comes trundling up, don't leave without me."

"Come inside! Grab whatever you think will be useful! And keep the engine running!" said Wilnarr, running inside himself. He grabbed a hiking backpack and a duffel bag and started stuffing them with food, camping supplies, knives, a random handful of clothes, toiletries and whatever else he could grab in a hurry. Shoving his pills into one of his pockets, he started going through his closet, throwing things aside while trying to find his camping tent and sleeping bag. He'd always been an outdoorsy type, and had plenty to grab.

Chroma holsters her sidearm and starts? Helping, she suppose.

She hoped it wasn't a post-apocalypse situation incoming. But with the battle-bots, who knows?
