RE: Villagers (Players Chosen!)
Just to keep you updated, Forest won. I'm working on the art assets now.

And I made the edits to your guy, MasterBlade.

You have made it to a small clearing in an old forest. The clearing is at the end of a small, probably forgotten trail. The trail breaks off from the main road where travelers are more frequent.

You have brought with you:

6x Bedrolls
1x Shovel
1x Handaxe
1x Axe - Dio
2x Hammer - Dio, Bogroth
1x Pickaxe - Bogroth
1x Hoe - Quelsh
1x Sword - Neg
1x Staff - Tannus
1x Knife - Gill
1x Trader's Pack - Gill

Once you begin to build a reputation, migrants and settlers will come to your village. But that's not the main concern at the moment. Food, water, shelter, and safety are. You're deep in a unknown forest with minimal supplies. Better get moving!

Here we go. Feel free to do as you wish. You can drop off and pick up supplies as needed, you're not attached to the starting tools you brought. And if you're wanting to explore to another screen try not to go separate ways (if someone goes north, and west, and another south the following update might take awhile). And rp as little or as much as you want.

RE: Villagers
An abandoned-looking forest trail? That'l never bring in good trade; too risky looking! Gill Jade takes the handaxe and starts chopping up the fallen tree into refined, out-of-the-way lumber. Gotta start somewhere at making the road look welcoming.

(Sweet outfit edit bro. I aproove o3o)

RE: Villagers
Bogroth surveys the area. It has enough. The others could do their part, and he had his. Bogroth lumbers over to the rock formation near the stream and, using his pickaxe, starts to chip sizable chucks away from the main mass.

RE: Villagers
Tannus, planning ahead for the evening, grabs the shovel and begins to dig a small fire pit in the middle of the clearing.
#32
RE: Villagers
Quelsh takes his hoe and begins tilling away at a patch of soil in the northwestern corner of the clearing, by the stream. Easy irrigation and watering, that way, and it leaves plenty of room for houses or tents! Very practical, very practical.

As he gets into the old, familiar routine of swing-pull-step, swing-pull-step, he looks over at Neg with an expression that is equal parts jealousy and excitement.

"So! Nobody's said too much about themselves, yet. How about you? Where'd you get that sword? Were you, uh, some kind of guard back in your old township?"
#33
RE: Villagers
Neg looks at Quelsh and gives him an angry scowl.

"No, my Tribe didn't have women guards. The sword belonged to my father. I am Neg, the person that will be protecting your ass out here. Thats all you need to know."

She then goes over to a near by tree to train. She begins to slash at it with her sword.

RE: Villagers
Dio grabs his axe and walks towards the trees near the road and begins to chop down the one nearest the road, chopping in such a way as to keep the tree from falling closer to the road.

Everyone gets to work on the village.

Gill, using his merchant's knowledge, decides the trail needs to be more presentable. He grabs the handaxe and chops at the log in the trail. "SQUEEE!" A loud high pitched squeal come from the other end. Something is inside!

Bogroth swings at the large rock and begins to break it apart and gathering stone.

Tannus is digging a small firepit in the center of the clearing. This will be very useful come nighttime.

Near the northern stream, Quelsh is tilling the soil to begin a farm. The soil seems rich and fertile. Quelsh also notices that the nearby bushes have orange berries.

Neg sharpens her skills by practicing on a tree. A odd fruit falls on her head. She looks up and sees that the tree is full of them!

Dio is chopping down a tree near the trail. It looks like it will provide plenty of lumber.

RE: Villagers
"Eesh." Quelsh makes sure not to look too much at Neg, and in turning around, notices the fruit-bushes.

"Hey! That'll be a real time saver. I was expecting to have to forage a little farther for seeds."

Noticing nobody's really paying attention to his unprompted chatter, he coughs a little and continues. "I found some berry bushes, I mean."

"..."

"I hope they're not poisonous."

He waits for a few seconds, then shrugs. Even other people don't think farming is very exciting, apparently.

"What's with that log?"
#37
RE: Villagers
Tannus glances over at Quelsh, smiling. "I'd say there's only one way to find that out, right? I should probably be on call when we start testing the food we find around here, though."

He then sets back to digging. "My best guess about the log is that there's some sort of animal in it. Possibly good for meat."
#38
RE: Villagers
Dio continues chopping down the tree, settling into a rhythm that includes the noise from the log. Finally the noise pierces through his caked on indifference to loud noises and he looks around at Gill before calling out.

"What is... The matter?"
#39
RE: Villagers
Neg gets annoyed by the falling fruit.

"MOTHER OF FUNGUS!"

She then hears the noise from the log. She bursts into action rushing towards the log with her sword at the ready. She stands on the other side of the log so the thing would be trapped.

She then looks at Gill. "Don't move. We have it trapped."
#40
RE: Villagers
Gill Jade pulls the nearby rock over to block his end of the log. He'll come back when the pest control's had its fill.

In the meantime, he'll haveat the berry bushes before they get picked clean. Immediate food supplies are always good.
#41
RE: Villagers
Bogroth stops his work temporarily to listen to the sounds coming from the log. It wasn't something he knew, so he ignored it. After getting some bits of rock, both large and small, he got an armful and carried them over to the center. Sorting through the pile, he brought some of the smaller pieces over to the fire pit, stacking them up. He tapped Tannus on the shoulder and gestured at the small rocks. "For the fire pit."
#42
RE: Villagers
Tannus smiles and gives a little bow. "Thank you kindly."

Once he finishes with the digging, he arranges the rocks properly.

Bogroth mines more stone and hauls it over to Tannus. Tannus is pleased and is placing the stones in a circle to form the fire pit.

Quelsh notes that berries will be might be usable for farming and continues to till the land.

Dio is making quick work of the tree. It should fall soon.

The squeal from the log got everyone's attention. Gill plugs one side up with a rock and heads over the berry bush. He collects a bunch in his pack.

Neg quickly blocks the other side and takes a look in.

It's hard to make out what's in there.
#44
RE: Villagers
Dio, diligent as ever, continues his work of cutting down the tree, daring to whistle a tune as he does so. He figures the log issue will resolve itself or the others will drag him in to resolve it.
#45
RE: Villagers
Bogroth nods in acknowledgement, walking back over to the rock formation and picking away at it.
#46
RE: Villagers
Neg gets on top of the log and waits for the thing to poke it's head out. She silently motions to Gill to put some berries in front of the exit of the log. As to lure the thing out.
#47
RE: Villagers
Gill, in a half-baked effort, lobs a single berry logward. Thats his required contribution for the project.

He takes a quick peek to the screen south to get an idea of how much road work he would have to perform to get more people walking down the path, again paying no mind to the log situation. Not getting bitten by pests is a priority.

RE: Villagers
Yo Orange, Guy, can we get some posts in here? Or maybe autoresolve them? o-o
#49
RE: Villagers
(I'm good with an autoresolve, sorry)

RE: Villagers
Sorry, my workdays are pretty long; I kind of figured it was implicit that I'd keep on a-hoin' until a small plot was finished or I said stop. My bad.
