I thought that Antichamber, Rogue Legacy, Monaco, To The Moon, The Banner Saga, and Mark of the Ninja were all very good/great/interesting games in their own ways, and would probably all work on just about any computer built in the last decade or so.
Antichamber - A short, experimental game about navigating non-euclidean geometry puzzles.
Monaco - Multiplayer bank robberies set in Mini France.
To The Moon - A short, story heavy game that will probably make you cry.
The Banner Saga - Snow caravan/refugee simulator. Also has vikings.
Mark of the Ninja - A really fantastic 2D stealth game. Sorry, I just really like this one.
Rogue Legacy - A rogue-like where you can send hundreds of generations of children to their deaths. Great if you want to kill a lot of time.
(I'm sure there's probably several other good games on the list that would fit your criteria as well, but I'm only including ones that I've actually played myself here.)
