NTA as a general rule (read what me and close friends think) if you liked FF7 then you'll like FF9. One of the best games in the series, in my most humblest of humble opinions. It does play some dumb existentialist drama about princesses but all in all it's pretty justified and the plot is meaty enough for it not to matter too much.

Also I don't remember a single chosen one of destiny so that's always a good sign.
