There had to be a way through those defenses, but he really wasn't sure he wanted to throw it all away on a gamble. He'd been moments away from assaulting the two would-be gods alongside Nothing, but the display of overwhelming force had him spooked.
Still, it's what I'm here to do. There ain't nothing else to it. I've got a gauge on his minimum level of scariness now. Come hell or high water, it was about time to start resisting. Oh, Domino Effect**, what would you do in this situation?
Spender turned and looked out the nearest window. His eyes watched the sunlight reflecting off the metals, and he mentally tracked which of the few moving reflections were off of which rotating islands. After a moment, he gave it up and turned back.
If I'm going to try to beat him, I need knowledge and power. This place is "real", but it's also manufactured. If I can cause enough destruction here, I should be able to unwind the "real" and learn more about the techniques he used to build it.
It's going to take a LOT of destruction, though.
He managed to put on a forced smile. That was something he could do. Hell, if he made a big enough show of it, maybe that Overseer would let him get away with it.
And he did love to put on a show.
