Spender caught his thoughts and managed to capture as much of the details of the round as he could.
He wanted to shout that man down. He wanted to deck him full on with a fist the size and temperature of the sun. He was furious, but he let the seething pass through him and the cold reality settle in.
When the restraints lifted, he stood there for a moment, just resisting the urge to seethe in public, until he was sure he could resist the temptation. He set his face to be about what he thought neutral looked like, then flipped a vanishing coin into the air and flew into the sky--only far enough to be out of range. With the fog, the thrust effects from the flight spell's maneuvering was evident, but there was nobody in the state of mind to watch the gentle eddies, not even Spender.
Living or dying didn't matter. Depending on what those statues were, that might be worse, but all things considered, probably not all that much worse. The only problem was, if he didn't survive the round, would anyone else be able to stand up to the Overseer? Would they even try?
