Vyrm'n circled around the shipyard turned battleground, listening carefully for Maxwell's song or for whatever obscure doorway would guide the Faceless to him. The search did not take long. Vyrm'n located the floating picture frame which had lead them to this harbor, and Maxwell was not far off. All the while, Vyrm'n never once allowed Samuel's song to escape its perception. The collection of trinkets which had earlier housed Gestalt, however, sat lifeless on the cobblestone. Their weakened puppeteer had retreated elsewhere.
They'll recover. I will have Maxwell in my care by then. The Faceless headed for the open portal, leaving behind the broken pair.

Vyrm'n stopped abruptly. There had been a voice, a shout followed by silence. Were Vyrm'n human, it could have passed the interruption off as a trick of the mind, brought on by stress from the recent battle. Yet Vyrm'n did not have a human mind, and audible sensations were merely the fluctuations in the song of the matter surrounding it. That statement had not stemmed from the material realm.
GET BACK THERE.
The Faceless turned its attention back to the kneeling Karmist. This was obviously a mental attack of some kind. Vyrm'n focused again on Samuel, yet the black-suited man simply sat, slouched over, gazing upon his open palms. Almost instinctively Vyrm'n headed back towards the battleground, listening intently for the source of the voice.
CLOSER.
