SpoilerOkay translation time. Reuben wonders whether Eurasia is always like this. He notices that the library isn't the only floating building and decides that it probably is. He reasons that building don't float so there must be some kind of engine somewhere (Reuben has been conditioned to know nothing about technology and so float technology is the closest he was going to get to that concept) anyway he contemplates smashing it thinking that as he is now he might survive, plus also he would have no idea how to operate it. Unsurprisingly he doesn't find one, he finds more books and a card catalogue because this library is from the past or something, I don't go to libraries sue me.

So anyway he goes to the exit and takes a look down, he's high up. Normally he would be scared but he felt as though if he fell he would be okay, what with being a blob. It was natural human instincts that were holding im back. He reasoned if he sent down a small part of himself and it splattered and died then he would know without risking his life. He does so. On the way down his body does not reach critical velocity as physics says it should, it just kept accelerating and accelerating until it slowed down and came to a stop. Physics is crazy. He was surprised. The weird part of his mind told him the word surprised and then gave him some backtalk. He was worried and confused as to why his mind is doing this, but has to forget it for now. He has more important things to do, and he jumps off essentially.
